I discovered my first ever OtterBox case almost 10 years ago when I accidently bought one for my old Blackberry. I immediately fell in love with the case (it was the Commuter series) as it looked incredible and was made of the most premium plastic I'd ever felt on a case. Back then, this was a big deal as I was relatively poor with little money and my most prized possession, and only possession of any real value was my Blackberry. Since that day, the only case I've ever used is OtterBox on any phone or tablet that I've owned.

I don't know what it is but lately, and over the past 2 years or so, every single OtterBox case I've purchased has been garbage. Whether iPhone, Samsung etc. - the quality has been very poor and the feel of the cases isn't the same anymore.

I recently bought a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and immediately went to buy this case, but also the Commuter Series and the Symmetry Series. This was due to my past bad experiences with OtterBox and the fact that I had hope that either one of them would be great and I could return the other two, or even keep them handy.

But all 3 cases were garbage. The Defender case is loose on the phone. It clicks every time I move the phone and I don't know whether it would scratch my phone over time, or even fall out. Plus the clips were really, really loose on the front cover.

So I tried the Commuter Series and because of the size of my phone, and the fact that the top is only covered by a small piece of plastic (the rest is rubber), every time I put my phone in my jeans pocket, when I pulled it out, the case would come off the phone and my phone fell on the floor once - luckily on carpet and a very small distance. There is a serious design flaw here.

Finally tried the Symmetry Series and the camera is higher than the case, so if I put the phone on the table the camera glass would touch the surface! But this was only in one corner, it's as if the case was slanted somehow inside.

On top of that, the quality of the plastic is now very bad in the Defender and also the Commuter. Only the Symmetry is good quality plastic but the case was flawed!

Given that this is not a random event, due to the number of cases I've tried, I can only assume that something is wrong at the factory. Either the business has grown so quickly that quality control is no longer a priority, or there have been some forms of cost reductions in the manufacturing process.

I'm really disappointed because OtterBox was always my "go to" but now it has to be the new brand - Mous. Check out their cases, they are incredible.

Although, sadly, and for some weird reason, I'll always yearn for an OtterBox - perhaps nostalgia or perhaps because I had such a reliable experience with the brand once upon a time.

I hope that they fix the quality control issues.

Phone Broke in my pocket. Genuine Review.

I fitted this to a brand new galaxy note 20 ultra and the phone broke in my pocket! I'm really disappointed as I bought this as a premium product, rather than an eBay knock off.
The phone lasted about 2 weeks max. There is a hard plastic lug on either side where the (flipping mahoosive) belt clip mounts. Those seem to have pressed into the rounded galaxy edge bit of the screen, which has cracked. No word of a lie, I put the phone in my pocket fine, took it out half an hour later and it was cracked. OK, so clearly I must have leant on something, or squeezed it, something like that but I am still surprised and disappointed.
I previously had Spigen cases which were no better / worse but less than half the price.
Really unimpressed considering the hype and money. 😕

Bought this as I've had Otterboxes for all my phone's, I don't mind paying the high prices for them as they have completely protected my phone's over years. However this new phone case is nowhere near what I expect from this company. Firstly if you are expecting the screen protected front of an otter box, you won't get it with this the s10 version. This is due to the design of the s10 and the fingerprint technology. There is no protection for the screen. The edges of the otterbox are only raised at the top and bottom and not on the sides, this means a slimmer look phone but if you happen to drop this on the side, I can't help but think it's goodbye screen. The case fits snuggly as you'd expect but no where near what I'd expect from this company. Will be returning as soon as I can work out how to do that with Amazon. Do not buy.

I never bother with reviews but felt compelled to leave one. I have had Otterbox Defender cases for many years on a Galaxy S3, LG G3 and most recently a Samsung S7 Edge. For me, I found the case offered the best protection and the built in screen protector was a brilliant feature. I have noticed though that over time, there has been a decline in the quality in the cases. I bought a Otterbox Defender for my S9+ and was surprised to see just how far the quality of this product had fallen. It definitely feels inferior to the S7 Edge case, so much so a clip broke in seconds. Very disappointing seeing as how good the Defender series cases once were. I may have been unlucky and had a faulty one but I wouldn't bother buying this product.

I can't upload the photos right now but I have had the case on since day one of my s20 ultra and today I took the case off to clean it and found that the corners and sides of the aluminium housing are all scratched from dirt getting through the case and rubbing. This is not good enough for a premium £40 phone case as this has now damaged the possible resale price of my device. Have always had cheap cases however thought I'd take better care of this device since breaking my last.
The fitment is great, at first. Now everyday I find myself having to clip the rubber outer layer back in place as this is a stretch fit that doesn't tighten back up. Heard great things about this brand but I simply can't recommend based on my own experiences, should've gone with the mous case instead.

Well, I got this because I figured I could use a lanyard on the belt clip and it would protect my phone like the one for my 5S did perfectly. It worked...Until my screen suddenly stopped working!
This unit is made of a hard plastic inner case to hold the phone, a rubber outer case for bumps, and another hard plastic outer cover with the belt clip. The problem is that the outer hard plastic case clips onto the inner hard plastic case so if there is a shock to the outer hard plastic shape, it transfers the shock to the inner plastic case and damages the phone. I picked up my phone, the lanyard got caught on a kitchen unit handle and as I walked away, it pulled phone out my hands. The phone banged against the kitchen unit and I thought "Oh good, glad I got that expensive case" and then couldn't work out why I couldn't turn my phone on. No visible damage but the shock had gone through to the inner case and damaged the phone inside. I was so annoyed. What a waste of money?! New screen £70 on top of paying for this piece of rubbish.

Doesn't protect your phone that well

Bought this 5 months ago. I bought an Otterbox on its reputation and had one before that was effective. This one however doesn't do the basic job of protecting your phone. I noticed today the screen has cracked on my S20. I haven't dropped it much at all so am clueless how this could happen.
Given its success I'm not sure why they don't offer a guarantee...oh wait that's right they'd have to pay me and others like me for whom the box is nothing more than a thin veil.
The box itself has also cracked in one of the corners.
Overall very disappointed

Damages screen protector

Avoid this one, basically if you use a tpu gel screen protector it will constantly push it up from the edges and you have to take off the case and push it back down, it's super annoying and I've tried it with 3 different screen protectors, considering screen protectors cost 10pounds upwards this is not ideal as this case destroys them, also it would have been nice if they included clear instructions on how to install the case, I love otterbox, I have their clear case too and that's brilliant but this one feels cheap and is horrible.

I have just bought a new mobile device and thought I would be responsible and buy a decent case for it to go in. I heard a lot of good things about the otterbox case that made me change my mind from buying from an alternative well known brand the fact the case was on offer was a bonus but now I can understand why although the case has a soft material on the inside that’s the only real protection it has, the clip on the rear is flimsy and expect it to brake after a couple of uses. The screen is open to the elements no protection at all fingers crossed if the phone is dropped it’s either onto something safe or lands rear side down.

Overpriced and underprotects

Dissapointing for the money. While it has seemingly kept the phone intact after 6 months I removed the case and the phone was quite badly damaged underneath. After 2 years it's worse and the case itself is faring poorly, clips have snapped and the rubber is delaminating And peeling. (I'm not a particularly hard user and have dropped it maybe a dozen times).

I would mind it looking crap if it had saved my phone but it's hasn't. And for fourth five quid I expected better in terms of protection given the rubber outercase, allegedly tough plastic skeleton, and foam shockpad inside.
