Zeer degelijke fans voor een nette prijs!

Mijn PC case had nog de originele bijgeleverde fans draaiende en die zijn ondertussen 10 jaar (!) oud! Mijn HDD's kregen het te warm (eentje had meer dan 45 °C). Het was dus dringend tijd om deze te vervangen.

Gezien ik van plan ben een nieuwe PC te kopen wou ik een tijdelijke goedkope oplossing en die heb ik bij Arctic gevonden.
Na wat reviews op te zoeken zag ik dat deze grotendeels positief waren dus bestellen maar.

Aankoop en verzending verliep vlot bij Amazon. Niet binnen de 24u geleverd maar dat hoeft voor mij niet. Toch nog binnen een nette tijdspanne ontvangen (dag of 2 geloof ik).

De fans zijn van goeie degelijke kwaliteit. Arctic is een gekend merk dus heb ik sowieso al wat meer vertrouwen in dit product.

Super handig dat deze fans met elkaar kunnen gelinkt kunnen worden dankzij de 4-pin/3-pin stekkers.
Let wel op dat je niet teveel fans op je mobo header plaatst. Zeker bij oudere PC's zou dit overbelasting kunnen veroorzaken.

Helaas zijn de fans wel iets luider (op hogere snelheid) dan wat ik verwacht had. Hoewel ze ook weer niet echt heel luid zijn of zo maar in een stille kamer, bij warm weer, hoor je ze toch wel goed blazen.
Mijn HDD's hebben weer normale temps, ook bij warm weer, dus de fans doen goed hun werk.

Ik maak gebruik van de PWM zodat deze harder gaan blazen wanneer het heter wordt en zachter (en dus stiller) wanneer er een gematigde omgevingstemperatuur is.

De prijs voor dit voordeel pack is fantastisch. 5 goeie fans voor een scherpe prijs!
Zeker een aanrader voor doorsnee PC's. Als je echt een zware rig hebt met dikke GPU kaart(en) (en dus veel warmte) zou ik verder kijken voor wat meer high performance fans.

Lo compre para un servidor nl40 pero no me valio por sus minimas rpm que son demasiado bajas y el servidor por proteccion no arranca. Problema mio por no enterarme lo reaproveche para otro ordenador que tengo.

Unexpected loud resonating noise even at low speeds

I was disappointed to find what are quite favourably reviewed budget fans were seemingly unusable for me, I contacted Arctic support with an audio recording and they just said to refund the item and was not able to provide any assistance.

My issue is not with the traditional fan spin or airflow noise, but with the fans creating a resonating tone inside the case. This was not immediately noticeable as it happens at specific fan speeds, but as these are PWM fans it means they will constantly shift into these problem ranges even when the system is running cool.

I have never had this issue with a fan before but they were unbearable to listen to. I purchased a pack of 3 and can confirm this issue happens on all 3. If you buy a pack of these I would recommend just installing one and giving it a full test at a variety of rpms with software such as Speedfan to check for issues and potentially save yourself some trouble, for me the potential savings were tempting but in this case it did not pay off.

Update - After testing a few different fans and configurations it seems this resonating sound is a combination of elements, case configuration and fan designs, that is not specifically unique to this fan, but these fans experienced the issue more prominently than some. For my configuration it just seems best to find some fans that did not resonate so much and keep them to a fixed rpm where possible.

This is an issue that I have not seen highlighted anywhere with recommendations for case fans, and even Arctics support failed to mention anything. If you have noticed occasional loud fan noise at low temps then this is something to be aware of and you may find PWM fans in general may not actually be the best choice.

Quiet, at the expense of performance

I bought the Arctic F12 silent to cool a power amplifier in a hi-fi rack. I wanted the standard model, but Amazon would only supply them under the add-on program with a minimum order amount. I have two of them mounted behind the amp. On the plus side, they are near silent. I have to put my head up close to hear any noise from them, and from a foot away they are pretty much inaudible.

However silence comes at the expense of performance. These don't shift a lot of air. They'll be OK as exhaust fans, or possible extra side intake if you need them, but I certainly wouldn't use them on an air cooler, radiator, or as primary intake / exhaust. Standard fans don't make a great deal more noise and will push a lot more air. So despite the relatively cheap price, I struggle to give these a whole-hearted recommendation.

Within 15 months out of the 5 fans only 2 remain still functional. The other 3 all become very noisy, two with ticking and the third with a strong whine sound.

The fans weren't particularly quiet in normal operation, they compared unfavourably to more expensive fans but they were at the time of purchase 1/5th the price of a Noctua. But with their high failure rate relatively young they haven't proved to be particularly good value in practice with most having to be replaced already.

Of the 2 remaining 1 of them is slightly hissy sounding so my guess is that probably fails soon too. Not good quality for longevity at all, quiet for their price but wont last for the long term

De media kon niet worden geladen.

Bought two of these "ARCTIC F12 PWM PST" fans to replace the OEM DC fans that came with my case.

The PWM variant has a four pin connector which enables you to monitor the fan speeds from the OS and also to automatically adjust the RPM depending on the load for example.
PST is also very handy and enables you to daisy chain these starting from a single motherboard fan header.

My only issue with it is that one of these fans has a blade which wobbles significantly (see video).
This is very obvious even without applying power to the fan - just by spinning it with your fingers for example. To be honest I was expecting better quality control from Arctic.
This doesn't seem to affect functionality so far, but time will tell. The OEM fans I previously had did not have this problem.

I brought 5 of the ARCTIC P12 PWM PST CO till fill out a new PC case. The daisy-chainable connectors, good price and high ratings were what sold it. It has to be said though that the resonance is actually atrocious, not entirely the fans' fault, just physics,and fixable at extra cost (note that they're daisy chained so it's not just a matter of setting different fan speeds.). The one I have on the back of the case started rattling out of nowhere, which is disappointing (poking it a bit seems to fix it for now). But otherwise they are pretty quiet in themselves. Decent for £6 a pop so can't complain too much, will replace them all eventually though.

Very quiet but no frills

My old fan was grinding itself very loudly to death. I hoped to get some peace with this replacement. It's worked but there were hiccups.
1. This doesn't come with any mounting screws or anything else. This tripped me up
2. The power cable wasn't long enough to connect to the front of my case - which was were my old fan was. As a result I had to put it at the back of the case but the old mounting screws didn't work now

So after much grinding of teeth, I figured out how to mount the thing without screws, moved it to the back of the PC and now it's fine and quiet and all is running well.

I had the black/transparent one for testing and it had the most annoying whine, especially at higher RPMs.

Not what I was expecting from such overhyped, overreviewed and oversold fans.

Sent it back and replaced with an NZXT Aer P 120mm fan and couldn't be happier, virtually silent at IDLE operation used on my cooling tower. During LOAD all you can hear is air moving and no kind of whine or screech at any RPMs, amazing fan! Recommend people to try it and say no to this P12 hype!!

Overhyped and far below my expectations

For all the positive reviews on Youtube and tech reviewers, this fan really didn't perform to expectation. The cheap packaging was the first red flag. The thin made-in-China cabling was the second. The frame of the fans are lightweight and flimsy, very easy to distort and bend. Finally the airflow did not come anywhere close to what the reviewers were able to achieve even at 100% max fan speed.

By simply swapping these fans out to Thermaltake Riing fans one for one, I immediately saw higher airflow and 10C lower temperatures in all parts of my PC. I really wanted to like these fans, but the only thing good about it was that I wasted only a small amount of money and time. It could've been much worse.
