Opted for the most expensive cameras on the market as I wanted a quality product. Initially it worked great and was nice to live with for 1 month. Then the problems started, which I've found to NEVER be identified in proper product reviews... So I'd like to point them out.

This product fails in 3 key areas:
(1) Waterproofing Durability: Yes, the camera is waterproof. However 4 weeks after use of my wired camera where I'm using a waterproof cable designed for the Pro 2, I received a 'Charging fault' error message on the app telling me the power had been disconnected at the USB port. The forums are absolutely littered with these issues and Arlo pretend they dont know about it, asking that you check the base station, the battery, and your usb cable before attempting to rectify the issue. The problem is the micro USB port is not fully protected and will corrode outdoors. Once this happens youre left with an expensive paperweight. The camera has failed to survive a typical November in the UK and no longer charges.

(2) Customer Support is shambolic: I decided not to return the entire unit back as Arlo advised me that the cameras can be replaced under RMA. This was on December 8th 2018. On 18th December I hadn't heard anything. Contacted support, had to call 5 times over 1hr 30. Kept getting through to Netgear nighthawk support from the Arlo phone number. Kept being told to call back to maybe get through to the right department. Got through, RMA reprocessed, no reason given besides system error on their side. I'm now expected to get a unit sent out to me in 5biz days. (They send repaired units out under RMA in return for faulty new units from the customer btw.. but tell you'll get a new camera unless you ask more pointed questions). Dec 28th 2018: No update. Called up. 1hr later I'm told the RMA didn't process. Support apologises (after checking it hasn't been 3 months+ since I purchased the cam as they dont offer support for free if it has - ironic?). RMA processed again.. no reason given why it wasn't done peeviously besides a system error on their side. I'm now past the Amazon returns window and annoyed.
January 12th 2019: after sending 2 emails and receiving no reply, i call for update. Support tell me RMA wasn't processed due to issue with address on system. No-one thought to follow up or call me to resolve. I'm now being asked for credit card details as collateral in the event I don't return the faulty camera. I refuse to provide this as I'm out of pocket, product doesn't work as advertised, support don't seem to process anything. Support tell me they can't process the RMA without it. Issue is escalated and a manager decides to approve the RMA on grounds that it's the 3rd attempt?? I'm now waiting for the replacement to be sent out.

It's been 6 weeks since I raised the problem.

Wish I bought a Ring camera.. which costs less, looks better on the app, and they actually make a wired and wireless version of their cameras.

There are pros and cons for this system. If you intend to use it entirely inside a building then on the whole it works pretty well. As an outdoor security system you would be better buying a dog. The video quality is appalling and no way near approaching high definition. At night it’s totally useless and you would be hard pushed to recognise yourself never mind an intruder. Charging outside via a power source or the separate to buy solar panel fails within a week of the first rain or damp conditions. The connection point for the power cord to the camera does not seal the unit from moisture ingress. The result is it stops charging the battery. A large number of complaints about this issue from other users.

Basically the cameras and attachments are not fit for purpose outside in any conditions where you wish high quality video. The battery also does not charge in low temperatures below about 6 degrees Celsius. Also the system does not record anything while it is uploading a recording to the Server. You have to pay considerably more per year to have continuous recording facilities. And that would be unreliable due to the lack of weatherproofing for the cameras and while uploading a recording.

Next and the greatest failure is that the cameras are not secure. They can be easily stolen unless fitted at a height above ground that is not easily accessable. Yes each camera has a serial number but that does not prevent your house being robbed because the cameras have been removed. Replacing a camera is extremely expensive and don’t expect you insurance to cough up as the cameras are not designed to be securely fitted to a building in any way that would make them theftproof or even theft resistant.

This is an expensive system that is still in its infancy. The future might see improvements but at present and especially at the high cost I cannot recommend that you purchase it for outdoor use.

Wireless connectivity, HD video quality, long battery life, easy installation - all sounds very good. On paper.
I have been using the system for over a year now. The initial installation was fairly straight forward but that's where the positives have pretty much ended.
Now to the bad sides:
1. Picture quality, although HD, is not that great compared to, for example, a Ring Doorbell.
2. If you don't read the small print you will not realise that a lot of features are only available when the camera is plugged in to a power source which I would imagine is not an option for most people buying a wireless system. So in reality you don't get the 'Activity Zones' or '3-Second Look Back'.
3. 'Flexible Powering Options' - Arlo sells a Solar Panel that you can use to charge the camera so that you don't need to take it down when the battery goes flat. If you think (like I did) that this will enable the features mentioned above you would be wrong.
4. 'Plays Well with Others' - recently added HomeKit support was a major thing for me but unfortunately when trying to add the Arlo system to HomeKit I only get an 'Uncertified Accessory' error. Support ticket with Arlo open for over a month only made me go through a number of resets, restarts and reinstalls which made absolutely no difference. Their support is a bit of joke unfortunately. Checking the issue online it appears that a lot of their customers have exactly the same experience.
Bottom line - it's an expensive system that doesn't live up to expectations. There are much better alternative out there at lower price point.

I bought these cameras in 2018 for the first three months they worked as advertised. However that’s when I started to have problems.

The battery life is poor my outside front camera has a lot of foot traffic due to me living in a flat. So I decided to buy a power cable and have it connected to the camera you also have to do this if you want to take advantage of the motion detection unless you pay.
This method works for a little bit however a bug started to appear where it would not detect it was plugged into power. I have tried three different types of cable I even bought the Arlo outside cable this did not solve problems and is extremely short.

Every time there is a firmware update my cameras stop functioning the only way I found to get the cameras make it again it’s to do A factory reset if you use this method make sure you delete the cameras delete the base station and then log out before logging back in and setting them back up again, as you can imagine this is not fun going up and down on ladders.
It will work for a few days/months then all of a sudden it will stop working and I have had to reset everything again.

I paid A lot of money for these cameras and they are not worth then money I wish I had gone for the camera system that was wired. The reason I chose these cameras was due to the fact I rent and they are wireless and battery operated.

I believe the cameras would work well for indoor use only due to the fact of the poor battery life and having to reset the cameras. There is also no notification so when it suffers a fault you do not know about it unless you actually check the app regularly.

This is a none fault of the cameras as I found out when I researched them online when you go to the online support expect to go around and around in circles finding the same support suggestions. If you tried to contact him good luck I was on hold for about an hour I gave up.

I will never buy this make of cameras again due to the firmware updates that have not been tested slow bug fixes. Expensive hardware which have not been thought out.

There's a serious problem with this cctv in that it sometimes fails to record. A district nurse came to visit and according to this up to date Arlo Pro 2, she's still hiding in my house somewhere. She wasnt recorded leaving my house.

Records plenty of cats and trees though...

 When I first got this camera installed I was very impressed and the best thing is that you get five camera cloud storage for free, Furthermore the base unit has a USB port so you can use your own storage in addition to the cloud as a backup.

The issue I have with the camera is that it pick up things that aren’t even there and I get notifications from certain cameras approximately 200 times a day. This kills the battery and has forced me to turn off the cameras making them pointless to have. I have contacted arlo and they have told me it could be the heat triggering the sensor??? If this is the case then they are no good in having them in any country that has the sun. I also have ring, and never have this issue.

I have attached a video showing the number of pointless notifications I am receiving.

After spending several hours researching various systems, I settled on the Arlo. They were to be setup in my parent’s home, which they’re renting, and therefore can’t drill into the walls to mount them. So with this in mind, the plan was to have them sitting inside near windows facing outside onto the driveway and front path.

Turns out this is not an option as the cameras are unable to detect motion at all if they’re behind a window. At no point in my research and the reviews I read did I see anyone mention this. I’m sure there’s plenty of people in the same boat who need to use the cameras in this way so it’s disappointing that they lack this ability.

For such an expensive system this seems like a fundamental flaw. I’ve now ordered a couple of £25 cameras from Amazon which I’ve used in the past and have worked a charm.

Arlo cameras are certainly well made and marketed however for what they do they feel incredibly overpriced and under-featured.

Recensisco solo adesso il prodotto, avendogli giustamente dato un legittimo “rodaggio”. Facendo un rapporto tra quanto ho speso 839€!!!!!!!!! e la qualità del prodotto, inteso in tutti suoi aspetti, credo che sia stato il mio acquisto più sbagliato.
Sicuramente una linea accattivante, elegante e minimalista, ma in termini di software e qualità del prodotto, assolutamente ingiustificata la spesa.
Il set da me acquistato, comprende la stazione e tre telecamere. Su una delle tre telecamere, l’autonomia della batteria e’ semplicemente irrisoria, parliamo di tre giorni con un uso davvero minimo!
Con le altre ho preferito non testare, avendole lasciate ad alimentazione continua.
Una delle telcamere poi, nel mio caso, sarebbe stata destinata in un ambiente esterno, ma la NetGear per problemi di infiltrazione ha ritirato dal commercio l’alimentatore per esterno senza più sostituirlo, nonostante il servizio tecnico continuava a rassicurarmi su un immediata sostituzione....
Infine non riesco a dare una giustificazione agli sviluppatori dell’applicazione che riescono a rilasciare aggiornamenti (almeno parlo per Apple) che hanno peggiorato NOTEVOLMENTE le funzionalità del prodotto stesso, rendendo praticamente non regolari le notifiche Push in caso di rilevamento di presenza.
In conclusione avendo avuto molti prodotti di questa categoria, la mia personale valutazione è che il prezzo del prodotto è probabilmente tra i più cari in commercio offrendo un risultato lontanissimo dallo standard che dovrebbe avere per una cifra del genere!!!!!
Deluso e’dire poco....

Extremely disappointed.
Systematically getting trouble connecting to the cameras to get live feed, keep timing out when attempting to check for firmware upgrades for the base and - worse still - in the context of that deficient connectivity, I can do a dance in front of the camera without it registering any motion - which makes it useless...

Read other reviews talking about a recent firmware upgrade having broken the software so hopefully this is it and Netgear will fix it - in which case I will post follow up review.

But as things stand, I really can't recommend it

I’ll just let the cameras fail one by one and then buy another system, as these are not worth the money.
