These look like substantial ‘bricks’ which you might expect from the (incorrect) dimensions on Amazon, would provide the biggest ice cubes available. But they don’t mention the size of cubes at all, only the dimensions of the ‘bricks’. [Why on earth would anyone be interested in the size of ice cubes it produces - duh!]

Amazon says:
Item Dimensions: 24.2 x 14.5 x 8 centimetres
AND on the same page!:
Length 15.5cm Width 19.4cm Height 5.8cm

The real size of each brick is: 141.5 x 95 x 55 mm – the lid handles extend the overall width to 155.5 mm and the overall height to 57 mm
The size of ice cubes it produces is: 45 x 45 x 45 mm IF filled to the very top (but read below)

Here are the unexpected bits:
The ‘brick’ is not at all rigid, it has thin flexible silicone walls of approx. 1.5 mm. What appears to be a substantial external wall is in fact a lip which you have to squeeze the rigid plastic lid UNDER. This makes it tricky to fill cavities to the very top as the whole thing flexes as you try to put the lid on.
The ‘brick’ also has 5mm deep feet, so although you might expect 50 mm deep ice cubes to come out of a container 5.8cm deep (or 8cm, depending on which statement you believe), you will be disappointed.

Summary: It is OK. Not terrible & not brilliant. Could it be better designed – yes; but an accurate description would be even more helpful. If you want the largest cubes (for stock, juices etc), this is not for you. If you are happy with 45mm cubes, this is OK but look at the OXO version before deciding – they usually design their stuff well.
Probably a 3.5 star but it depends what you were hoping for!

We've used these for several years, still going strong and have also bought several as gifts after friends we've had for drinks have commented on the size of the cubes and the neat stacking trays. Cubes are too big for mixing cocktails, (still buy cheap supermarket cubes for that) but perfect for eg a drink on the rocks.

I was really excited about these - but i can't get rid of the plastic/silicon taste and smell that these give my ice cubes. They've been relegated to holding frozen stock, where the plastic flavour will be covered more than in a g&t. I had hoped to avoid this by spending a bit more... but I was wrong.

I’m very pleased with this jumbo ice cube tray. Love the fact that it has a lid. Just wished that the tray itself was a bigger. So although the cubes are about two or three times the normal size, the tray is half the normal size, so I’d still need to freeze my stock in batches. Or buy more trays .

Can't recommend this enough. Very easy to remove ice from, and the lids are very nicely made so you can stack the trays easily. Great if you need large ice cubes for your cocktails.
