It's great, but even for Apple it's overpriced, over engineered, and under functioned

This is actually my second Apple Pencil but the first I've bought for personal use. The last one was funded by work. Let's get this out of the way, I love the Apple ecosystem and the quality of their products and software, but HATE being tied into the ecosystem when it comes to what most companies would call an optional accessory. When you consider that you can buy a whole Fire tablet for the price of this, I find it really difficult to balance the scales in terms of value for money.

Yes, it does the job well, it's well built, but there are plenty of things about it that feel very much like a compromise of function and design.

To stop complaining a little, writing in OneNote or Apple Notes feels very natural with not noticeable latency, giving a great experience of actually writing. Over the years many have attempted to do this, but the combination of Ipad and Pencil finally means my work note taking has moved electronic. As an MS Office user, the Pencil works great on Onenote, allowing different use types (I'm a lefty) and being able to turn off "draw with fingers". Notes work great and magically sync up with my PC.

In the box you do get a spare tip, and a pass through adaptor so that you can charge with a normal lightning charger. Both super tiny lovely things to lose within minutes!

I've also used a few generic alternatives that claim to work instead of Pencil, and I reluctantly admit that they're no where near as good. Mostly a latency issue, with questionable battery life.

So here's my run down of grumbles:

1) The cap is stupid. A tiny over engineered magnetic cap to hide the lightning connector. Why couldn't it be a concealed popup device like USB pen drives have used for years. It's a constant anxiety that I'll lose it, and I hate myself for not being able to stop fiddling with it.
2) I get why the new induction charging Pencil wouldn't be compatible with normal Ipads, but it would've been nice to have a V2 that solved some of the problems and could work with "non Pro" Ipads.
3) The Price.. It's just so painful. And you don't even get Apple stickers in the box

Too fiddly and many removable parts that can be lost in an instant by extremely busy people like me.

It's easy to pair first time but needs pairing every time ipad is shutdown or goes into airplane mode. So technically can't function during airplane mode? What's the point then? I need working everywhere.

It's thin and non grip at all. You can almost imagine it falling on the floor into pieces.

Si far works with notes app or other apps with some precision to write or rough sketches but I would not use it for professional art.

Too expensive for what it does. Basically paying for a brand name.

Apple has changed the technology in the new apple pencil, if you own a older ipad you cannot get any thing better/equivalent to the old first generation apple pencil. It is overpriced for what it is. In my case i bought a refurbised ipad and the pen was 20 percent of the value of the ipad. Writing is as expected, but note i am not an artist.

OK, the pencil works quite well... but it is very slippery/scratchy on the glass. It seems there are two ways to improve matters, either get a matt finish screen protector or get some small rubber pen tips. I have bought the latter and they seem to be a big improvement.

Useless instructions

Typical Apple arrogance: deliver something in a package and with "instructions" that looks nice but are completely unhelpful. You have to go online to find out how to pair it! Products sold without instructions are legally faulty. Apple know this. They should have clear 'getting started' instructions - not poor instructions in pale grey on white at about 4 point size lettering.

I have to say I bought this along with a new iPad but in reality I have hardly used it I tend to use my stylus pen with rubber tip more. Would I buy it again No that’s not to diss the product just my personal preference.

come tutti i prodotti Apple funziona molto bene, bel design e buona durata della batteria, ed è piuttosto bilanciata, è fluidissima su iPad 9.7” con il quale fa perfetta coppia per un universitario o chiunque faccia esercizi/prenda appunti.
Ma come tutti i prodotti Apple costa un po’ più di quello che vale, ad esempio scomodissima la carica tramite iPad (per romperla ci vuole un attimo, sarebbe stato più intelligente utilizzare una prolunga anche solo di 1 cm ma che permetta comunque dei piegamenti), e trovo fastidioso che per essere abbinata debba essere appunto collegata alla porta lightning ogni volta (a meno che non si voglia lasciare perennemente attivo il Bluetooth, cosa di cui comunque ne risente l’auronomia, e che ha senso solo fino a quando non lo si spegne, quindi almeno ogni volta che si accende iPad l’Apple Pencil deve essere collegata fisicamente).

I ordered this item 3 months ago maybe, it came after 2 months by then I had already began exams. About 3-4 weeks into using it the pen sometimes stops working. Very disappointed.

What will be done about this?
as I’m aware these Amazon pens are fixed and resold at the same price. You should be ashamed of yourself selling reassembled previously damaged items at this price if you’re aware they won’t work for long

A bit pointless unless you are a technically competent artist. Does work OK but not something I should have wasted money on. If it's just for writing with don't bother. An ordinary stylus costs nothing and writes fine, Some indication of battery life remaining would be good as well.

Lo uso en mi Ipad 2018 y estoy encantada aunque he de decir que he tardado en acostumbrarme y todavía se me hace incómodo escribir en una pantalla. Personalmente lo uso sobre todo para moverme por el IPad porque es mucho más fluido el movimiento del lápiz que mis dedos, lo volvería a comprar pero desde luego deberían bajar el precio pues me parece excesivo y es una pena que no se pueda usar en otros dispositivos Apple como el IPhone. La batería es duradera por lo menos en el uso que le doy pues no invierto muchas horas escribiendo así que pasan días hasta que vuelvo a enchufarlo. También el grosor se hace molesto para la escritura. En conclusión, tiene muchas cosas buenas pero todavía hay mucho que mejorar.
