4,0 van 5 sterren Some limitations but overall a good cheap alternative to more expensive pulse oximeters.
Beoordeeld in het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 29 december 2016
Geverifieerde aankoop
Overall, very good for price but has some limitations (freezes, robustness and cannot read display in bright sun). For people without major health issues probably a good alternative to the more expensive monitors. I have lung fibrosis so my oxygen levels fall when on the move. I need to know when they are below 85-90 so I can start using my portable oxygen. Have now tried the Ana Wiz and 2 other types - a cheapish one from Argos and a more expensive Nonin Onyx II 9560 (the type they use in hospitals, usually £100-200 but got mine on Ebay for £35). I got the Ana Wiz first and would say that for the money its very good though it is now my backup to the Nonin which I feel is more reliable for my condition and never lets me down. I have cold fingers which makes getting accurate (or any !) readings difficult. The Ana Wiz copes with this quite well though it's not quite as good as the Nonin. The Ana Wiz display can be hard to see outdoors on bright days which is the main negative for the Ana Wiz. The Nonin seems to cope with motion (walking) better than the Ana Wiz though it's a surprisingly close thing. The main problem with the Ana Wiz and motion is that the display sometimes freezes (values stay same for more than 5 seconds) but you tend to know this has happened and it's easy to check by resetting with the white button. Fairly comparable readings to the Nonin in range 80-95 and it seems to respond just as quick to changes in your oxygen levels as the Nonin (Argos one was lot slower). The Ana Wiz also displays readings on start up almost as quickly (5-10 seconds) as Nonin but initial value displayed sometimes tends to fall 2-5 units over next 5 seconds. Ana Wiz feels (and probably is) less robust than Nonin. I'm on second Ana Wiz after dropping the previous one three times. The Nonin allegedly survives at least 10 drops - already up to 2. Make sure you use the lanyard!. The Argos monitor was not so good - while it had better visibility in the sun it was slow to react to oxygen changes and made constant beeping sound with each pulse which made it embarrassing to use in public (know how the crocodile in Peter Pan felt now)

4,0 van 5 sterren Overall an essential bit of kit for those who suffer COPD.
Beoordeeld in het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 7 september 2018
Geverifieerde aankoop
I've only received the device today so this review must be read with that understanding. It arrived well packaged in protective hard sponge in a proprietary box. It comes with a rubber protective cover (I'll not use that) and lanyard (not use that either) and a small nylon protective carry/storage bag with velcro fastener and belt clip. This is very useful for safe storage of the device when not in use.

Two triple 'A' batteries are included which it is claimed will power the device continuously for twenty or so hours so in normal use they should last quite some while as each use realistically only takes about ten to fifteen seconds to get the required readings.

Not a great deal more can be said other than it appears to work and appears to be accurate. One thing though, on my first use I read the numbers wrong meaning I took the pulse rating to be my O2 reading and vice versa......then I put my glasses on and realised my error!

Only minor fly in the ointment was the plastic screen covering the read-out is pretty scratched up. Either this is a refurbished device (I sincerely hope not) or just down to poor quality control at the (likely) Chinese factory where these are put together.

Overall an essential bit of kit for those who suffer COPD, asthma or any other breathing problems and for the outlay it seems to be great value.

4,0 van 5 sterren Good remote monitoring of O2 levels in sick relative
Beoordeeld in het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 9 mei 2020

Good but instructions too hard to read. Not sure what second LED digits are reading. Battery markings printed on machine the wrong way and supplementary paperwork enclosed explains this. Neat pouch and holder. Great for independent readings so we can keep a daily remote eye on an elderly relatives oxygen state (she suffers from lunch diseases and cough and temperature so a daily reading on her O2 levels helps reassure us long distance how her daily health is). Numbers are clear and easy to read.

4,0 van 5 sterren Seems to operate properly
Beoordeeld in het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 25 april 2020

It is impossible to comment on the accuracy without calibration tools, however, based on my last hospital reading, it seems to be within the ball park. On the negative side it doesn't grip the finger very strongly and the seller would appear to be now profiteering - I see they have increased the price within the last 4 weeks by 50% (I paid just under £30 and it is now just under £45)

I got this to use on my 2 year old son, Who has been diagnosed with asthma. It's the best way to try and keep a close eye on his oxygen levels whilst his chest is bad. It's a bit tricky on little fingers, but as long as you preserve it does pick up a reading. As I've only recently got this I'm yet to see if it picks up a true reading

4,0 van 5 sterren Probably under reads by 2%
Beoordeeld in het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 24 januari 2021
Geverifieerde aankoop
I bought this item after recent experience in hospital when I noticed this was one of the standard measurements they take along with blood pressure, weight and blood counts.
It also seems sensible to have one at home during the pandemic since I understand sometimes people can have covid, not display any symptoms yet their oxygen level can be in the 80%s and dangerously low.

I've not yet compared this one with the hospital's oximeter on my finger whilst attending hospital so can't comment with absolute certainty on how well it is calibrated.

However as far as I can see this takes slightly longer to respond and the first readings are invariably the lowest and over a a half minute or so they creep up. I've noticed that typically in hospital I'll start at 97/98% but after a couple of deep breaths I can drive it up to 100%

This one invariably starts ~95% and rises to 96/97%. It won't rise any further after taking deep breaths.
I realise this isn't a scientific test but at these levels I reckon it probably under reads by a % or two.

4,0 van 5 sterren Great oximeter, but watch the price
Beoordeeld in het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 19 november 2020
Geverifieerde aankoop
I bought this oximeter back in August after the first lockdown, but I did notice this fluctuated in price a lot. I managed to get it for £17 when it had settled down, but I saw it go up to something like £30 or so. I don't really approve of them taking advantage of these unfortunate times, but I guess that's the life of supply and demand.

What's in the box:
-Oximeter
-x2 AAA batteries
-Lanyard
-Rubber coving
-A case
-Instructions

It's really easy to use - press the white button, attach it to your finger and wait a few seconds. It will read your oxygen level (SpO2) and pulse rate clearly on the red display. Very rarely, but sometimes it can misread the levels, for example wearing nail varnish can affect this, so just try again. After 5 seconds of removing your finger, it automatically turns off, so you don't need to press or hold down the button when finished. It's really lightweight and can fit in your pocket, or around your neck with the lanyard.

This oximeter is great to have in general, but good for anyone who may be paranoid/anxious about coronavirus symptoms (e.g. shortness of breath), or, if you are caring for someone. It does state that this is supplied to the NHS across the UK and I think it's a good piece of equipment to have in your medical box.

4,0 van 5 sterren Slightly inconsistent results, but useful in the first aid box
Beoordeeld in het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 13 december 2020
Geverifieerde aankoop
Compact and very easy to use. Included is a case, and a silicon protector for the meter, which is a nice touch.

Use is as simple as clipping it to your finger and pushing a button. Blood oxygen level and pulse are displayed after a few seconds.

My only slight concern is over accuracy. My right hand often gives worrying results under 90%, but my left hand gives much more normal results near 100%. Therefore, I always use my left hand. Much happier. :)

Worth having in the first aid box- especially at the rotten time in our lives (I'm looking at you, 2020).

4,0 van 5 sterren Recommended by Which magazine as highly accurate
Beoordeeld in het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 4 november 2021

+ Very easy to use - press the white button and in a few seconds, you'll have your reading.
+ Comes with 2aa batteries, which were easy to insert and the +- signs for battery direction were clear and easy to read (not always the case!)

- The display is 'upside down when you are wearing it, so a reading of 95, looks like 56.

---Way too much packaging. Includes unwanted lanyard, rubber case, and a fabric case. If some uses want this why not offer it as an option. Also came with batteries in plastic, the oximeter in another plastic bag, and the whole thing packed in a plastic(???) casing. Manufacturer, please move to sustainable packaging.

4,0 van 5 sterren The display is upside down
Beoordeeld in het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 15 februari 2022

At first impact it appears to be made of good quality, the reading is not always precise, we compared it with a professional EMT one and it was a little screwed but I guess it is to be expected. It comes with batteries, a cord, rubber mold protective case and a little pouch which was really nice.
The only issue is that the screen is upside down, so if I testing myself I have to turn my hand in an akward position to read the screen. I mean is not a major issue but it could have been designed better!!
