Top Verbesserung zum alten Chime!

Grundsätzlich ist das Update der Chimes definitiv gelungen. Sie wirken nicht nur deutlich zeitgemäßer - nein - sie haben sich auch von der Qualität verbessert.

Beim Kauf der neuen Chimes hatten wir zunächst die normale Version ausprobiert. Hier haben wir aber schnell feststellen müssen - dass das Upgrade auf die Pro Version doch lohnt.

Im Vergleich zur normalen Version bietet die Pro Version zusätzlich zum eigentlichen Zweck des "Klingeltons" folgendes:

- Reichweitenverstärkung (Repeater Funktion)
- ein warmweißes Nachtlicht mit Helligkeitssensor
- verbesserter Lautsprecher
- verbesserter Eigenempfang (WLAN -> selbst getestet!)

Ich kann euch also beruhigt die Pro Version ans Herz legen - auch wenn diese ~20 € teurer ist - Es lohnt sich!

Not sure how it did it but my doorbell has always had a very poor connection. I had the doorbell(gen2) a chime and a chime pro (gen1) on a 2.4G wifi. I read the reviews for the chime pro(gen2) which aren't the best but a thought what the hell. Got it plugged it in half way between doorbell and router and set it all, no better at all. Tried different sockets in the house and switching between chime pro network and home WiFi. Still no better. Put the new chime Pro back half way between Bell and router and went to bed. Got in from work the next day and went on the app to try again and found system is all green and bell has an excellent signal. All I can think is it takes a while to learn and then boost the signal.

I bought the chime pro after investing a lot of money on purchasing two wired ring video doorbell pro 2’s for my garden gate and front door and two ring floodlight cam pros for the front and back of my house. Satisfied with buying the latest and most up to date ring technology I paid an electrician to install all devices. It was only after he had finished that I realised that the doorbell ring and motion chimes would only be able to be heard from my phone and that in order to get a ringing sound from inside the house I would need to buy a chime. This seemed odd, surely this should come when you purchase the doorbell itself!! Anyway, I decided to invest in the chime pro as I had done all the relevant measurements for Wi-Fi range and although I was in the range stated by ring I felt that an extender would be a bonus! I thought it would boost the WiFi signal for my ring devices. How wrong I was. Unfortunately, this device did not do what I was told it would. It seemed to work fine at first with only the one doorbell but as soon as I starting adding my other devices I found that my doorbells and floodlight cameras kept showing as being Offline whenever I chose the chime network. It would sometimes ring but that would be 2-3 minutes after the event. Connecting to my normal on the premises WiFi worked better and gave a much stronger signal. I tried to connect the chime pro to my eero extenders but the whole thing went offline, even though it says it is compatible.
As I only purchased the chime pro for the extender feature I will be returning it as it doesn’t do what its suppose to.
So now I am left with ring devices that only notify me via my mobile, which is pretty useless for other household members if I am out or have left my phone somewhere!! Very dissatisfied with ring. Wish I could return all devices and go with another system.

I'm a network engineer and my BT Wi-Fi signal in my living room reaches my Ring Floodlight Cam through the Kitchen externally with 2 bars which is kinda low so I purchased the Chime Pro to make sure it gets max signal strength. My Floodlight Cam is placed on a wall where there are 2 windows on the left and right side. I placed the Chime Pro next to these 2 Windows and Wi-Fi signal are supposed to cross Windows easily. The Cam was literally 1 metre away from the Chime Pro and the signal was 1 BAR!!! Can you believe it? Set up and Install was VERY easy and I would definitely keep such a product if it was a proper Wi-Fi extender.

INITIAL EXPERIENCE THEN 2 UPDATES -

Having experienced loss of Wi-fi signal in the last few weeks for some unknown reason and previously putting off getting a chime. I opted to buy the Wi-fi extender with door bell chime , bonus!

(some people might think this is a con buying an extra device to make your doorbell make a noise but I had money to throw away like everyone else)

Having read all the negative reviews about the Wi-fi extender being hopeless I decided to buy one anyway, I often staple my ears to the table or run around the house with scissors just to prove I can’t take advice.

The extender comes in a lovely box which looks and feels the part of something you would buy to make your doorbell make a noise.

The instructions are simple. Plug it in switch it on scan the barcode the thing flashes it connects to your Wi-fi and Bob’s your uncle your doorbell can now let you know someone is at your door, an unusual concept.

Takes a while to work out, I expect as most people are just used to convenient plug and play devices.

I tried resetting it, plugging this in that in , flashy blue light not green, nightlight on off on off , blue green bla bla, unable to join network bla bla

I’m now happy i wasted a lot of money and time comfortable that technology has once again gained the upper hand in destroying all hope for mankind.

As I write this it’s plugged into the wall in front of me, flashing away telling the toaster they are winning.

At some point I will probably contact customer services just so I can revel in the whole experience , pressing buttons and being put on hold. Hopefully I will be transferred a few times and after 20 minutes get cut off.

Things were so much simpler before!

UPDATE 15/06/21

Having spent the night mulling over the fate of Sarah Connor I duly persevered with this device.

I deleted the chime pro in the app and started again. After a number of failed attempts I managed to link doorbell to the chime.

As it stands the doorbell now has a signal.

The chime is installed 2 meters from the door and about 9 meters from the router.

Have given this 3 stars now and Will see how the signal is after a spell .

UPDATE 20/07/21

Since I stuck at it and managed to get it working the signal has not dropped out and the chime works.

The crux is getting them linked. Good luck and don’t let them win.

After reading many reviews, I bought a Ring Chime Pro, as my flat is upstairs, one level and the Ring Doorbell 2 signal is never good. Sadly, after installing the Chime Pro two things happened, I got no announcements at the correct time, more often the chimes and announcements came a minute or do AFTER the event! Secondly, although I joined the Chime Pro to my broadband's WiFi network, I could not improve the signal, simply because the Chime reported it was too far away from the router! How bizarre, the reason for buying a chime Pro did not dolce my issues, but it did improve the WiFi signal from the Doorbell to the router! I've now resorted to using a plug in extender, coupled to a BT WiFi Disc extender to gain an adequate signal.
I'm sure for other this device may work well, if line of sight or other factors are favourable, but for me, it simply didn't do the job I'd bought it for.

Even though our WiFi is generally good in our house (router in gf kitchen, great signal in loft) our ring cam kept showing Ambera lot. Initially used a TP WiFi extender w3 had lying around, and this helped keep it in the green most of the time.
However, every now and then dipped to Amber, which frustrated my ocd husband.
The app itself advised us to buy a chime pro, I was sceptical thinking it was just possible that the signal issue were caused just to make us buy a chime, however after a bad signal spell for a few days I just went and bought one.

It arrived promptly the same day (I have prime) and my husband went to install it the day after.

He had connection issues (cam wouldn't recognise it at first or second try), third time lucky and the signal was in the red...useless...left it awhile and nothing changed so up the ladder he goes again, connects back to our TP extender and back in the green/black.

Bare in mind our TP extender was less than £20 too.

Sent pro chime back.
Do not recommend.

This doorbell has literally no redeeming features other than the fact it makes a noise when your doorbell is rang.
It has a little nightlight feature which seems like a good idea, supposed to turn itself on when it’s dark, doesn’t work, put it in direct sunlight and the happy little light still tries its hardest to brighten your mood after spending £50 on a noise nightlight/energy vampire.
I specifically ordered this overpriced junk because it has a wifi signal booster, spoiler alert, it only works as a signal booster for other Ring products (and it doesn’t even do that very well).
If like me you paid a fortune for a Ring doorbell, I’m sure by now you’ve realised that the wifi range is diabolically short. Currently my router is less than 2 feet away from my doorbell with only a wall separating the two and STILL the health status of the camera is poor.
Using the chime as a repeater to try and improve this only made it worse, to the point it would take 5 minutes+ to get a live feed from the doorbell.

Amazon/Ring, sort it out!

Das Gerät trennt sich täglich mindestens 1x vom wlan zuerst hatten wir es im 1. Stock (Router im EG) dachte es liegt daran... jetzt 4 Meter freie Luftlinie und immernoch so also für mich unbrauchbar ich hab anderes zu tun als jeden Tag den rotz neu zu verbinden wird zurückgeschickt

These devices are configured so that it's only possible to select one chime sound for all of the door bells on your Ring system. I have both a front and back door bell. I thus require two separate chime units if I want to know which bell has been rung and which door to go to. These are computer based units and it would be easy to have implemented the ability to have a different chime for each door. You can already have a different chime for a ring and motion, for example. These expensive devices are replacing some cheap wireless bells (without cameras) which could perform the simple task of different chimes front and back with one chime unit. I suspect this is nothing more that a cynical ploy by Amazon to sell multiple chime units to people in my situation with both front and back doors in common use. This could easily be remedied with a software update. Come on Amazon and Ring. Don't be so tight!
