It doesn’t matter whether your garden is a small patio or a couple of acres this book includes helpful information for building a pond that should suit your garden situation (although the largest ponds will almost certainly require external contractors and heavy machinery).
There is a wealth of information here, including ponds through history, ponds and well-being and plenty of design tips. Jules doesn’t stop there, the book goes on to look at pond maintenance, planting up your new pond and what wildlife you can expect to find in and around your pond.
The Wildlife Pond Book does a great job of demystifying ponds, it is packed with useful tips as to what to do, as well as what not to do. For instance, Jules advises to avoid introducing fish to a typical garden wildlife pond and suggests that pumps and filters are unnecessary in a well-balanced pond.
This book will be a fantastic resource for anyone wanting to install a pond and ideal for parents who want to encourage their children to take an interest in the wildlife around them. I for one can see myself dipping into it time and again.
