Im Zuge einer Hardwareaufrüstung, habe ich mir die vielfach empfohlene Wärmeleitpaste von Thermal Grizzly bestellt. Zum angegebenen Preis von Rund 8,- Euro (August 2019) recht teuer, aber die Bewertungen, Empfehlungen und Tests im Internet haben mich letztendlich Überzeugt.

An der Verpackung ist nichts auszusetzen, diese wirkt in dem schwarzen Tütchen sehr stylisch, mit einem hauch an Exklusivität. Man hat das Gefühl etwas besonderes gekauft zu haben. Neben einer Spritze mit ein wenig der Wärmeleitpaste erhält man einen Spachtel (ähnlich eines Eislöffels) zum verteilen der Paste.

Bis dahin alles in Ordnung, jetzt jedoch kommt der Grund für meine niedrige Bewertung mit nur einem Stern. Die Wärmeleitpaste ist Schrott! Die Paste lies sich auf der CPU nicht verteilen, ich hatte das Gefühl, diese war eingetrocknet - dies liest man in diversen Bewertungen hier. Die Konsistenz war wie Kaugummi, egal was ich versucht habe es gelang mir nicht diese ordentlich zu verteilen. Nach mehreren Minunten habe ich aufgegeben und die beiliegende Wärmeleitpaste beim CPU-Kühler verwendet. Das verteilen war kein Thema, und binnen von ein paar Minuten hatte ich eine saubere, hauchdünne Schicht.

Vielleicht habe ich Pech gehabt und ein Montagsprodukt erwischt, aber aufgrund des Preises und der Erfahrung, würde ich eher zu einem anderen Hersteller greifen...

Schade!

beware of 80C limit of this paste

Most 8th and 9th gen Intel laptops are known to run at 80+ degrees Celsius because of their higher TDP compared to previous generations, which is exactly why this thermal paste is not made for them. It breaks down at temperatures higher than 80 degrees. In my case, temperatures increase by 15 degrees Celsius, days after applying the paste and my I5 9300H in Lenovo Y540 starts to throttle in any recent game. I've reapplied it 3 times by now and have experienced the same results, 80-82 degrees max in the first few days and then 95~ after a week or two.

EDIT: I got a nt-h1 paste for my cpu but I am keeping the kryonaut for the gpu which stays within low 70s. Compared to nt-h1 I am getting 3-4C less on the gpu with kyronaut and in turn I am getting a better performance. As for the reason, let me explain. Semiconductors are more efficient at lower temperatures, that means they use less power the colder they run. NVIDIA's Turing architecture is power limited on both mobile and desktop, lower temperatures means less power consumption which allows those gpus to run at higher frequencies.

１年ほど前に購入。
テスト機で１年使用して、余ったものを１年間保管したのでそのレビュー。

CPUグリスは極端に熱伝導率が悪いものや粗悪品でない限り、普通に使う分には温度に変化なんて出ません。

OCしたらどうかというと、少なくとも常用利用する範囲内でのOCであればどれも変わらない。
限界を突き詰めていくとかなら少しでも熱伝導率の高いものの方がいいんだろうけど、それはあくまでOCすることが目的であってOCしたCPUを常用利用するわけではないから、一般人には関係のない話。
まぁ趣味でやる人は少なからずいると思うけど。
そういう目的でない限り、グリスの熱伝導率の差がCPU温度に表れることはまずない。
なので、クマグリスはよく冷える！　と言っている人は、限界を目指しているガチオーバークロッカーか、人から薦められて使っているだけで他のグリスを使ったことすらないような人のどちらかが大半を占めると思うわ。
いくつかのグリスに塗り替えて温度を比較したことがある人なら、とりあえずクマグリスを薦めるなんて愚行はしない。変化なんてないから。
熱伝導率12.5W/m・k のクマと約8W/m・k の他のグリスに塗り替えて温度見てみたけど、変化なんて0.1～0.3℃程度しかない。しかも、クマグリスの方が冷えるというわけではない。つまり、誤差ってこと。
4W/m・k も差があるのに変化が見られないのは、そもそもこのレベルの熱伝導率が低いから。
いわゆるドングリの背比べ。

クマグリスで有名なのは塗りにくさ。
ヒートスプレッダの上ではじいてしまうので、塗るというより盛るという感じで使う。
この「盛る」というのが慣れないとかなり難しい。
グリスを多めに出してヘラで表面をならしていくという感じなるが、ヒートスプレッダよりヘラの方がくっつきやすいので、ヘラにグリスを持って行かれて無駄になる量が多い。
よく米粒○粒分みたいな感じでグリスの適量が表現されるけど、このグリスは米粒より小豆で表現した方が適切。
それくらい多めに使わないとキレイに塗れない。
いわゆる圧着方式の場合でも、グリスが硬くて伸びにくいので多く使わないといけない。
普通は１ｇあれば数回使えるけど、このグリスは扱いに慣れないと２回くらいで終わると思う。
上手く塗れなくて一からやり直しとかしたら、２回目の途中でなくなる可能性すらある。
温度に変化が現れないのにわざわざ高くて扱いにくいグリスを買う必要はない。
じゃあなんでこんなに薦める人が多いかというと、あるオーバークロッカーが薦めているから。それだけ。。。
ガチオーバークロッカーならより高い熱伝導率を求めるのは当然だけど、一般人が使ったところで、って感じです。

1年使用してみての感想だけど、塗ったものに関しては乾燥することなく当初と同じように見える。
ただ保管していた物が乾燥を始めていて、買った当初より明らかに塗りにくくなっていた。
T○ｰ8と比べるために同じ場所で同じジッパーつきの袋に入れて保管していたけど、クマだけ劣化していた。
キャップ部分の締めは確認していたし、キャップの上からビニールテープでぐるぐる巻きにしていたので、クマの方だけ環境が違ったってこともないと思うんだけど、クマだけ微妙に劣化してる。
使えないわけではないけど、元々塗りにくいグリスがさらに塗りにくくなっていたので、さすがに使う気にはならない。

使いたいなら使えばいい。特に不備があるということではないから問題はない。
ただ、１ｇ単位で買えるからコスパ良いようにみえるけど、実際は１ｇじゃかなり不安。
CPU交換やGPUのグリス塗り替えやってみようとか、そういう当初想定していなかったことだって出てくるのが自作。
イレギュラーな使い方したら買い足すことになるし、そこまで想定して最初から容量の多いものを選ぶと、次に安いのは３ｍｌの２０００円越え。
だったら、１０００円で４～５ｇ入ってる１０w/mk弱のグリス買って、浮いた１０００円でCPUクーラーをアップグレードした方が冷却効果は間違いなく高い。
良いCPUクーラーを用意してエアフローをしっかりと確保したあとに、さらに少しでも冷却性能をあげたいオーバークロッカーが使って初めて意味のあるグリス。
それ以外の人は、使ってもしょうがない。

Überdurchschnittlich feste Konsistenz. Eingetrocknet?

Habe vorher Jahre über Jahre Arctic MX4 genutzt gehabt. Ich dachte mir, du hast so viel gutes über die Kryonaut WLP gehört, probierst du es mal aus.

Nachdem es ca. 1 Monat nach Kauf zum Einsatz kam lies sich dieses Zeug nicht verteilen. Es wirkte wie halb vertrocknet oder extremst dickflüssig. Auch 25 Minuten in kochendem Wasser haben nichts bewirkt.

Ich hatte dann gehofft durch die Hitze zwischen CPU und Wasserkühlung verteilt es sich noch etwas besser, aber dem war leider nicht so. Sah man später am CPU Abdruck. Das schlug sich natürlich auch auf die Temperaturen nieder. 5 bis 10 Grad mehr als mit jeder Random mitgelieferten WLP von Hersteller X. Im späteren Vergleich 15-18 Grad mehr wie mit der MX4.

Mein Fazit: Klar, jede Paste mit ihren verschiedenen Bestandteilen hat eine andere Konsistenz. Manch eine ist fast flüssig, wieder eine andere ist sehr fest und man sollte sie über Nacht lieber mal auf der Heizung liegen lassen. Aber meine Kryonaut war auch nach Erhitzung null verteilbar und wirkte eher eingetrocknet, trotz verschweißter Verpackung und Spritze.

Das Problem hatte ich in Jahren mit MX2, MX4 und seit einigen Jahren mit Mastergel Maker nie. :-/

This paste is as good as say the Noctua's NT-H1 paste which I generally use, which by all accounts is an excellent thermal paste although I have no idea if the Grizzly compound has the same longevity as Noctua paste. Having read amazing reviews on Amazon and other sources I thought I would give it a go. I found its performance to be identical to the Noctua paste having run my CPU on a mild OC 4.2 and running prime for 1 hour testing each paste with identical delta temps for both products. So no benefit at all changing from the Noctua compound either top temps under stress or idle temps. So in conclusion the paste is as good as Noctua's NT-H1but no better, its as easy to apply so no issue there, but its more expensive, you get 1g of Grizzly for approx £7 and 1.4 g of Noctua's NT-H1 for approx £7 also so for me the Noctua is the better choice and I know it has good longevity although I'm sure the Grizzly probably will as well. I'm going to leave it on the heatsink/cooler, there is no reason not too but next time I replace the paste I will revert back to the Noctua.

The smallest tube of thermal paste I have very bought. My noctua nt-h1 (and which gave me like 7-8 applications) was running out and I needed another tube. Pretty much every other shop also ran out of thermal paste during lockdown 2020 and thus had to get this one at the price of 1.1k

For the price though I am not happy. I was expecting a 1.5ml/3g of tube, as written on thermal grizzly's website and assumed that the seller is misstating 1.5ml as 1g. But in fact this 1g of tube exists and is legit (no mention on thermal grizzly's website though.) You could get 3x the amount with noctua nt-h1 for half the price.

On to the performance, yes it works. Compared to NT-H1 though, I saw only a degree of drop in temps. So same perf as NT-H1 for double the price, not worth it. And I don't think that kryonaut would cut in India since we generally have higher ambient temps compared to western countries, where most reviewers are based.

If you are repasting a laptop or a GPU, any thermal paste will show a difference. Good ones like NT-H1, MX-4 etc will show bigger difference than others. They also cost half as much and have more quantity thus you can reuse on multiple device or have multipe applications. This one has at best 2 applications for a 9th/10th gen Intel CPU.

If you are looking for reducing temperature -

1. Any branded thermal paste should do. NT-H1, MX-4 are better than others and much more affordable.
2. Cleaning fans and heatsinks will get you further drops.
3. Proper mounting pressure
4. Using a better cooler
5. Lowering your ambient temps by using an AC etc.

IMO, the only place for this paste is in extreme overclocking (5.2+Ghz/1.35V+). I am running a 10700K at 5Ghz@1.27V and peak at 80C with Kryonaut vs 81 with NT-H1. That alone should tell you why this paste is not worth it.

Very Effective and Easy to use

Note: Do a very good research on thermal pastes before starting!

Item arrived very fast, less than 24 hours and came in its small black Thermal Grizzly package along with a plastic spatula. The paste seems a bit enlarged in the pictures but it is actually very small. Just 1 gram of that paste, still enough for 4-5 applications. Use only 1 pea size drop on both cpu and gpu, dont put on the heatsink. After you put the heatsink back on the paste will spread equally. There is no downside of putting a little more so if you are in doubt, go for another tiny drop because if you put less than a certain amount, it won't take effect.

After you put everything back together, the temperature change is immediate. I am using a laptop, msi ge73 7rf, gtx 1070 and i7 7700HQ. The idle temps were 60 for both cpu and gpu, the full load temps were 95 for cpu and 80 for gpu. The laptop would get extremely hot and it would burn your finger if you touch the top of the keyboard. The heat would reach to the WASD keys causing uncomfortable feeling. There were 25-30% thermal throttling during full load. After applying the Kryonaut paste, the temperatures dropped 10 to 15 degrees. Now, the idle is 50 for both and full load is 83-80 for cpu and 75 for gpu. I tried overclocking the gpu after seeing such temperature drop and that way the temps only increased 3 degress. I used a heater to heat the room and fan cooler to increase airflow. With fans on full speed and room heated, the temps didn't go above 90 for cpu and 82 for gpu even when overclocked.

The results are shocking, even with overclocking and warm environment, the temperatures were below stock temperatures. This stuff works and it is much safer and easier to apply than liquid metal. Go for this if you don't want any stress and headache just for extra few degrees less.

Without a doubt the best thermal paste I've used.

I was initially sceptical when reading about the performance of this thermal paste, however it proved to be as good as is claimed.

I usually use Arctic Silver 5 which kept my CPU (i7 6700k @ 4.5ghz) at around 65 degrees after stress testing for 2 hours with AIDA64. The newly applied Thermal Grizzy Kryonaut saw the temperature drop to 53 degrees after the same stress testing.

I was very impressed and would absolutely recommend this.

I've been building PC's since way back when the original Pentium was released. I've been using arctic silver for most builds and thought I'd give this a try. My OC'ed i7 4790K which used to idle in the low 40s and get up to 78 degrees at max running now idles in the low 30s and I've even seen it drop to 25 degrees C. It never goes above 65 degrees full bore now either.

My OC'ed i7 7700K which would get up into the mid 70s now maxes out at 55 degrees C and idles in the low 30s.

Both PCs are running water cooling solutions form Corsair for comparison.

I'm very pleased and other than going to full liquid cooling this is the next best thing. Just be aware it is very thick and you don't need much - just put a 3mm blob on a patiently spread it with the included spatula. You'll get about 3 CPUs done with the 1g tube and it takes a good 5 minns per application. Just don't rush.

The reason im giving this only 2 stars is thermal grizzly gives you a spatula for spreading meaning this should spread well ( spoiler it doesnt) the paste just sticks to the plastic spatula or any spreader i used and just made a mess this just was not one tube i used 2 both same result.

the temps when this paste works is great normall 3 c under mx4 however when the paste fails to spread with the tool you provide it with its a waste of time even with another spreading tool this failed so bad.

i cleaned this gunk of and used mx4 and it spread way easier and more uniform across the ihs.

now why would you want to spread the paste instead of using the pea method ?

well for 1 its more even and 2 you can get the paste to be thinner and i would recomend it for amd ryzen chips more then intel as amd chips have a huge ihs and the ryzen favors it due to the chiplet design doesnt make it at a single point like intels.

now where does this paste shine which is why i gave it 2 stars

is gpu even though this paste doesnt spread well it doesnt matter with the gpu as you use the pea method due to the small die on the gpu the headsink will force spread it better then a spreading tool and is much better then standard paste ive seen my zotac 2060 super never get beyond 71c compared to old paste where it would sit at 82c on no man sky
