Daar ik een tweedehands (?) AMD Ryzen 9 3600 over had genomen op tweakers.net moest ik nieuwe koelpasta hebben en Amazon bleek met deze het goedkoopst te zijn.
Zelf ben ik geen over-klokker maar de recensies die ik heb gezien en gelezen geven aan dat dit een van de beste is.
Er kunnen beste betere zijn maar zolang je niet extreem gaat over-klokken gewoon doen.

So I had purchased Grizzly for my 3 year old Alienware 17 R4. After a lot of read thru and experiences (definately not enough) I decided to go for this instead of the Artic MX 2019.

As this was the first time taking my expensive laptop apart, I was naturally very tense, due to which mistakes were made as follows :

1. I applied too much paste on CPU. GPU was a bit more but OK.
2. Didn't pay close attention to the thermal pad replacement. (I thought if it works don't fix it)
3. Didn't do a good job in eyeballing the thermal pad contacts. (After final tightening some pads were not making contact with the chokes).
4. Didn't follow the number order when screwing the heat sink/fans back.

As can be seen for from the tests there is not a big drop in temps as "I was expecting". Unfortunately I did not take a pre application tests to compare, but from what I remember with the same tests conducted under similar conditions earlier, the CPU and GPU temps were in their mid to high 80s. So keeping that as a rough ref. 2 cores are giving 10 drop but 2 cores are almost the same (I learn this problem is specific to this laptop later), the GPU has a 10-15 deg drop which is really great. So did the paste work? yes it did but I was expecting the CPU temps especially to stay below 80 DEG mark 🤷.

With the 30% left over paste I decided to give another try with my wife's Acer Aspire 13" R3 laptop (used only 10% of the 30% paste this time). This laptop does not have any fan or vents, there is just a metal plate or heat spreader that dissapates the heat to the chassie. My wife used to complain that the laptop underside gets very hot after an hour of use. The temps used to hover 60-70 deg.
This time I guess I did it right, applied the correct amount of paste, placed ADWITs thermal pads where necessary, checked that all was good before the final placement. The results are great here, as can be seen the temps are almost the same in both tests, but if u see closely before Grizzly after 30 mins of test due to the excess heat generation the laptop is limiting the cpu freq to 880 mhz and average multiplier for 30 mins is *11. After Grizzly results show after 45 mins of test the average multiplier is *22 at the same temps, clearly indicating good heat dissapation. Moreover now thar laptop does not heat up at all on the lap. After 2 hrs the temps hover high 40s to low 50s, and most importantly wife is happy.... hehe

So the paste is Great, BUT does only 40% of the job, rest 60% depends on the applicator's competency 😎.

Best decision to tackle over-heating in laptops

I am using Helios 300 as my daily driver and for gaming, Out of the box machine was good but was having heating issues. During normal work loads the temperatures were around 75-85 celsius and during gaming it rose to 95-100 celsius. I tried undervolting and other remedies but to no avail. Finally I gave this a shot after viewing many videos. I expected machine running a tad bit cooler, but to my surprise normal temps are down to 46-60 celsius and during heavy gaming it never crossed 75 celsius. No thermal throttling even after overclocking. MUST DO for all gaming devices.

Très efficace mais...

Cette pâte thermique est très efficace mais son gros défaut, c'est qu'elle abime la surface de l'ihs du cpu et du ventirad.... au bout de 2 ou 3 applications et nettoyages les surfaces se dégradent, comme si elles s'oxydaient... j'ai eu ca sur mes deux ventirads et mon cpu... la pâte nt h1 que j'utilisais avant ne m'a jamais fait ca...
Ce ne sont PAS des résidus de pâte mais bel et bien une dégradation de la surface

Estuve buscando en Internet como diferenciar entre una Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut falsa y original y se debe tener cuidado con los vendedores y el código de verificacion, empaque, jeringa negra y folleto largo esta pasta térmica es ORIGINAL vendido por Quantum Soluciones a demás que hice varias preguntas directamente con ellos y me contestaron todo.
Lo mejor de lo mejor en pastas térmicas.

Ho comprato questa pasta termica per vie delle recensioni positive su ytube. Ho avuto un sostanziale peggioramento delle temperature del mio notebook. Aggiungo che ho lunga esperienza in overclocking e che di paste termiche ne ho testate di varie marche, quindi non ho assolutamente commesso errori nella sua applicazione.

Semplicemente il tubetto da 1g è cosi poco che la pasta si asciuga presto all'nterno(dal tempo di confezionamento alla vendita e arrivo al consumatore) diventando asciutta e gommosa (non viscosa, cose molto diverse).
Il risultato è un tappo termico che peggiora le temperature sia in idle che in full load.

Giusto per confronto (intel 8550u) :
kryonaut:
Intel xtu stress test cpu: full-load (boost, no power throttling) 83°C idle 39°C

Ho riprovato con la classica AS5 applicando un velo come faccio sempre:
Intel xtu stress test cpu: full-load (boost, no power throttling) 73°C idle 37°C

Ci tengo a dire una cosa, la conducibilità termica è importante e la kryonaut con 12.5W/m·K ha il miglior valore sul mercato. Ma il problema "geometrico" è altrettanto importante. Se una pasta con 8W/mk di conducibilità la si applica in un velo sottilissimo e uniforme di 20-25 micron(sotto pressione del dissipatore) ha una resa molto migliore di una pasta da 12W/mK che a causa della consistenza rimane dello spessore di un foglio di carta (circa 80micron, sempre a pressione applicata). E poi non fatevi condizionare dai vari test e comparative che mostrano differenze anche di 4-5°C tra una pasta e l'altra. Non è vero, tra una pasta ottima ed una buona cambia una frazione di grado.

La vera differenza la si può fare con metallo liquido (73W/mK), ma purtroppo ha molte controindicazioni, rischi corti circuiti se fuoriesce e corrosivo per alluminio.

Quindi in definitiva, credo sia un problema del formato da 1g. Consiglio il tubo da 11g anche se il prezzo è proibitivo.
Formato da 1g da evitare.

I finally gave in and decided to try this after various YouTubers promoting or being sponsored by the brand, and I wanted/needed to give my CPU some fresh thermal compound.

First things thing, I’m rocking a Ryzen R7 2700X at 4.1GHz with a CPU VDD of 1.36v. For cooling, I’m using a Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite 120, with a Corsair LLL120 fan. As I ran out of my usual Noctua NT-H1, I’ll be putting this Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut against Cooler Master’s MasterGel that I had laying around from the MasterLiquid Lite 120.

I also have a Phanteks P350X case with 2x Corsair LL120 fans in the top, and 2x Corsair LL140 fans in the front.

Unless I did something wrong, which I doubt. It seems as if there’s not a huge difference between the MasterGel and the Kryonaut. Which is a little disappointing. Although I didn’t look at the temps, you’ll have to take my word for it, that the Noctua NT-H1 gave similar temps. Max temps were done with a few consecutive runs of Cinebench R20.

With all of this said and done, I’d honestly say just go for Noctua’s NT-H1. It costs around the same, and you get 3.5g instead of just 1g with this. Although, I will admit, that applying the Kryonaut with the spreader was hassle-free...although could be done something else that’s plastic and has a straight edge.

Sidenote: The CPU and copper plate of the AiO were cleaned with Arctic’s material remover and purifier.
