Over de auteur

Eric Hill (1927-2014) started his artistic career as an art studio messenger and from there went on to become a cartoonist and eventually an art director at a leading advertising agency. In 1978 Eric made up a story about a small puppy to read to his son at bedtime and Spot was born. The success of his first bestselling lift-the-flap classic Where's Spot? in 1980 convinced him to become a full-time author, and his Spot books have been enjoyed by children around the world ever since. In 2008 he was awarded an OBE for services to children's literacy.

It’s my grandsons first Easter so I couldn’t resist buying this as I love all the other Spot books.
The book is sturdy with thick pages but I find some of the flaps to be really small and difficult for small hands to lift.
I think the story is a bit more complicated than other Spot books and could have been made easier for small children to follow but I like the concept of an egg hunt and counting how many have been found.
Not my favourite Spot book but I’m a big fan of interactive books as they make reading more interesting for young children.

My daughter loves the Spot books and I like reading them, especially in the evening, when tired, as there is not much text. She has now turned 3 and gets probably a bit old for them, but still seems to enjoy them, and my 1-year old daughter slowly starts enjoying them, too. I most liked the 'Where is Spot' book, but was quite disappointed by the 'Spot's Xmas' book, and was hesitant to buy this 'Spot's first Easter' book. However, I think it is quite nice - Spot and his friend Helen Hippo are searching for the Easter eggs in the garden and inside the house. The author probably wanted to make it a bit more interesting than the Xmas book, and added the Easter bunny hiding somewhere on most pictures and in one instance indicating the number of eggs still remaining. This is a nice idea, but on the other hand, I found the white little Easter bunny looks a bit odd and might even be perceived as a bit scary by some children - not by my daughter though - so it is just me speculating here...

I purchased this for both my baby son and niece for their first Easter this year, and was really pleased. We have the board book version and it's the customary bright and colourful design you would expect from Eric Hill's Spot books.

I loved that the book celebrated Spot's First Easter as this makes it perfect as a gift for a baby's First Easter. It's lovely to read along with even the youngest of children and lift the flaps to show what is underneath. My six year old can read the text easily and loves to read the book to his brother.

You can't really go wrong with Spot books. They're always fun and engaging and suitable for children from birth upwards. Recommended.

A cute little Spot book with flaps to lift and find things. Bought it for my 5 month old grand daughter at Easter. She likes looking at the bright pictures but I think she will get more out of it when she is a little older.
