Review 1 (Out of the box and too lazy or too young for downloading Soundcore App):
Okay.... for the price not bad but also not great or special. And where is the "Boom"?
Review 2 (Watched Oluv Gadgets, Alan Ross and other independent reviewers):
1. Install Anker's Soundcore App.
2. Go to Custom 9-band EQ.
3. Copy EQ basic settings from Oluv and adjust some bands to my room acoustic (your room's acoustic will be different). [See picture my EQ setting].
4. HolyMoly!!! What a big deep, full and clear sound! The Speaker looks very small for the big sound it produce now!
Everything from warm soft 70's recording, jazz funk, rock to modern heavy bass focussed music sounding like coming from big full speakers. This is the first portable bluetooth speaker that has genuine sub-bass (after EQ), for a crazy low price in comparison with Sony or JBL. [see video, phone microphone does not justice].
Bluetooth latency is not bad. Video's on Android OS on Galaxy S10+, Xiaomi Mi Max and LG TV are very watchable.
I'm not sure what Anker is thinking with the factory EQ tuning. But with the App and crazy custom EQ setting it's night and day complete different speaker. From flat hollow lifeless dinky-toy sound to €300+ class speaker.
And most important: The custom EQ is directly saved on the device itself! After your EQ tweak you can delete the app if you want. The custom EQ setting is used even if you connect to other phone, tablet etc.
Funny and neat extra's from the Soundcore Boom: It has reverse-charge option. You can charge your phone or use a LED-lamp while playing music.
Only wished it has a line-in jack like the Soundcore Motion+. This speaker (with custom EQ) is so good as a soundbar for TV, synthesizer keyboard or guitar.
Great speaker for the price. Anker has my attention!
