Ik had al een poosje een 256GB SSD liggen die nog in een oude MacBook Pro zat. Ik had altijd al het plan opgevat om die er uit te halen en los te kunnen gebruiken maar tot op heden nog geen mogelijkheid gezien om die met USB te verbinden. Totdat ik deze Sabrent adapter zag. De adapter doet precies wat het zegt. Je sluit de SSD aan en de andere kant duw je in je USB poort. Werkt onder problemen!

Terribly slow adapter

This adapter is really slow. I could achieve 30 MB/s max, that's half of what an USB 2 port is capable of. And this product advertises that it can achieve USB 3 speeds.

I tested the product on multiple PC's with a SSD and USB 3 port, but none of them could get faster speeds than 30 MB/s. Sometimes I even get a timeout error.

Bought another adapter (StarTech.com) and now I can get 400 MB/s speeds without any problems, using the same SSD.

Got this to connect to a Samsung EVO 870 to my PS5
Works great - good speeds, got all my PS4 games on external storage now.

If there’s one thing to remark - it’s got a pretty bright blue activity/status LED that I found blinking too bright (taped it over)

Works perfect on Series X

Purchased this for my Series X and when I'm not using it I will also be using it for other storage transfer means. But my main focus for this purchase was for the Series X. As for the SSD I was using it was a Crucial BX500 1TB I picked up for £70 with a voucher that dropped the price.

Now for speed reads/writes I can't really calculate, since Xbox doesn't offer that service. But it has been quick and snappy for what I want from it and is 100% plug and play.

Popped the SSD into the Data adapter and plugged the USB into the Xbox, straight away it picked up the drive and asked what I wanted to call it and I formatted it to what I wanted. Format to storage or have for media viewing, but my goal was for extra storage for my base (non X/S updated games) and original/360 games.

I mean the wire works, the SSD is really quick and snappy in games. For the price it was a bargain and I've also tried a Samsung Evo and that works fine on the wire also.

Newer Replacement Adapter Works Great

The adapter I received was faulty as it would not work with the newer USB standards (3.2 Gen 2x1 and 2x2 with speeds 10Gbps and 20Gbps respectively) so I was unable to use it on my laptop that only had these newer ports. It was fine on USB 2.0 and 3.0, albeit at slower speeds.
I reached out to Sabrent who were very helpful and sent a replacement adapter.
Note that the replacement adapter seems to be of a newer revision. The cable itself feels different and the packaging has been updated (left, white box - old; right, black/blue box - new).
I suggest contacting support if you have similar issues.

The adapter also comes with a handy USB Type-A (female) to Type-C (male) adapter.
I am using this to repurpose my Crucial BX500 as an external SSD for games and additional files. So far so good! I ran a quick CrystalDiskMark benchmark, a screenshot of the results is attached for those interested.
Would definitely recommend for those looking for a relatively cheap DIY external SSD solution.

Bought this to extend my PS5 storage with a Samsung Evo SSD. It works perfectly, plug and play and the PS5 detects and formats the drive. It is permanently attached to the rear USB of my PS5 with no issues at all. It's low profile means it can be hidden away underneath the (horizontal) PS5. Just for clarity I use this to store PS4/PSVR games and get all the fast loading benefits of the PS5/SSD without taking up valuable internal storage space required for native PS5 games...

I had an old docking station that used esata in my old PC, which I used for getting data off old hard drives and when I built a new one, esata wasn't an option on my new computer. So I bought this lead to connect some older sata drives via USB 3 so I could get my data off. It works perfectly, and is simple, neat, and tidy. There is a little blue led on the connector to tell you when data is being transferred, and didn't miss a beat. The transfer rate varies, of course, but it all depends on what data you are transferring. I got up to 380MB/s transferring ssd to ssd. It uses an Asmedia 1351 chip, who seem to be making a name for themselves as a very good usb to sata connecting chipmaker. If you have ssd's that need data pulling off, you can't go wrong with this! P. S. I only used a USB 3 socket on my computer, as I didn't have a 3.1 available, but still got great results! Really pleased!

'Temporary' fast access to an SSD or 2.5" HDD

A very useful bit of kit, this - enables you to quickly add an SSD (or even a 2.5" HDD) to your PC's storage, rather than opening up the case, etc., etc.
For the sake of clarity, although this device will fit onto a 3.5" HDD (since it's a common connector) there's insufficient power available through a standard USB socket to spin a 3.5" HDD drive's motor. If that's what you want, then you'll need to look at some of Sabrent's other products (such as their excellent 'USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive Flat Docking station') which will do what you want.
This one is good and fast (USB 3.1), is well made with a reasonable length of USB 3 cable moulded as part of the connector onto the actual drive. It's useful for both PC and Mac, since it comes with a nifty little adaptor from a standard USB plug to the USB-C variety!!
So there you have it - it does just what it says on the tin!! Marvellous!

Works brilliant using a Samsung SSD Drive to my Samsung S21 Ultra phone. I was concerned because my other Sata to USB C works on my Note 8 but not on my S21 Ultra. I thought it was the phone, but decided to bite the bullet and upgrade the Sata to USB device and lo and behold it works on both! So old adapter only works on Note 8, but this new Sata to USB C adapter works on both. Sorted 👍

Definite speed improvement over the USB 3.0 caddies

I bought this to use with a Series S / X and connected to a SSD the speed difference between this and a regular USB 3.0 caddy is noticable. Some games loaded 2-3 seconds faster but Witcher 3 was almost 6 seconds in places. There is a review video on YouTube which shows the differences and this really works.

Modern SSD's have fairly durable plastic bodies anyway so the caddy isn't overly necessary - just keep it away from kids!

I had a u green caddy which failed to read my 1tb old ps4 drive on my note 10 plus 5g. This did the job perfectly. Full power and full format and read write options. U guys should do a matching caddy. Maybe you do I don't know lol? Thanks for the function and quality. Cables nice and thick compared with my other caddy which didn't work. Transfer speeds on my computer are lightning. Brilliant!

Working as expected with a Samsung SSD 1TB connected to an Nvidia Shield TV Pro.
Obviously you will only get the highest speed of usb 3.1 when connected to devices with 3.1 usb ports.
I don't have any so couldn't the the full potential, but is somehow future-proof.
Nice and strong package.
Fast shipping.
