Sometimes its good to let people know how something really works. This was bought on 26th November 2014 so I have been using it now for well over a year, and it is working fine. In fact I've moved the room about and moved how the cable was being used in that time a few times as well.

The way I have my router setup and my TV box I needed to actually have a real ethernet cable. I did use to use homeplugs but they broke, so thought a proper Ethernet cable would be the way to go, and its a great decision.

This currently goes from the front of my house to the living room, under carpets, currently hammered into part of the skirting board, and although its damaged in places, due to how I put it, it still works absolutely fine. In fact the reason I noticed I had not reviewed this was I am looking at getting another lead to plug into another box in the kitchen.

So all in all, works very well, obviously lasts well. Works with most devices, I've had it plugged into a YouView box for the last few months, before that it was plugged into a Sky box, and I've even had it plugged directly into my smart TV. WiFi works but you can't beat ethernet for speed, so that is always my first choice. If it wasn't for the fact my laptop is supposed to be portable, I would have that connected to Ethernet as well. I am considering a PC so will be getting one of these cables if I do for that as well

This is a great, sturdy, well put together cable. It doesn't look like it'll break or snap easily. The 20m length will easily reach anywhere. I currently have it going from one room through the wall into another and still have lots of cable to spare.
This cable would be a good choice if you need a good solid permanent connection, or if you use a smart tv or DVD player that demands a constant connection or your house doesn't have the best wifi coverage. The speed is always good with this cable, even over the long length it still seems to be as quick as the wifi, it's probably slightly quicker.
Another thing I've noticed with Ethernet cables is the connectors, the levers on them can sometimes easily snap, but with this cable the connector is covered so snapping it isn't as easy. I've just looked at this cable though and the picture doesn't seem to feature this, I purchased my cable well over a year ago so the design may have been changed. If it does come with the protected levers though, then it's just another good feature of this fabulous cable. Never let me down.

Basic quality but works fine for home Ethernet star layout - bought 2 - one goes to sky box and Sony online DVD etc etc (100mb hub by TV) and one to P3 & PS4 ( 100mb hub/ WiFi extender) in different rooms from 100mb central hub which then in turn has a long cable run to the broadband router - don't think these cables are twisted pairs which you should have under Cat5e but haven't stripped them to see! so can't say for sure anyway guess it's reflected in the price but at any rate haven't noted any performance drop off over the last year or so, the cable is fairly light but that's quite handy for sneaking it under skirting boards etc out of sight - overall much more stable than WiFi and overcomes dead spots around the house - maybe you could get crosstalk if running at 1gb speed due to maybe not being twisted pair but again not tried ?? but in this configuration is ok and I'm not likely to be running data transfer at that speed

Well I ordered a similar product to this one, and it just fell to pieces, it didn't even click in the ports properly, so it just kept falling out and I was constantly losing connection.
However... I thought I'd take a risk with this little beauty, well firstly it was a lot cheaper than the other I bought, it clips into the ports as expected, and at 15m in length for under 3 quid, what more can I say apart from unbelieveable. I would highly recommend buying one of these, infact I'm going to buy a couple more for a back up should anything go wrong. But I really don't think it will, it's lasted me a while so far, I thought I'd leave writing a review for a while just incase something went wrong with it, well so far it hasn't and that's why I'm writing the review today.

Worked great for Sky+ and looked OK in the living room too

I bought this to connect my Sky+ box to the broadband router in the other room, which meant a 15m round trip round the back wall from the lounge via the diner to the modem/router.

Because the cable is white it sort of blended with the skirting board onto which it is tacked, so that was a good point.

It also worked as expected with my Sky+ box so I can now download Sky Anytime programs although I have to watch the monthly allowance closely (about 1Gb per movie).

Anyway, the price was great, the product was NOT some flimsy thing but was a proper Cat 5e (ie suitable for Gigabit) well-made cable.

No faults and lots of plus points on this one.

I have a blu-ray player in my living room that needs to have it's software updated every so often. To do this, it needs to be connected to a broadband router....which I have, but in an upstairs room.
I have ethernet cables, but none longer than 1 meter.....so nothing that could connect my blu-ray player to my router. I didn't want to start moving equipment around, so a longer cable seemed to be the best bet. As I wouldn't be using the cable very often, I didn't want to spend too much, so when I saw this on Amazon, for a couple of pounds, it seemed too good to be true.
Ordered it, and 2 days later I have updated my blu-ray's software (and watched Youtube on my TV, via the blu-ray player). Excellent item and excellent value.

20m Cat5e Cable is long!

A Cat5e cable is simply a Cat5e cable. Not much more anyone can say.

Super length, meaning I both cannot guesstimate distance and I can now hard wire anything to my router in any room in the house, and possibly loft if i so wish. I might even see if I can get it to go to my shed!

Gembird got this off so quick, I thought it must have been hand delivered. Never had anything arrive so fast in standard post.

Simple piece of kit, works well. the only thing I am not too keen on, it the cable is a little skinny compared to me other Cat5e's, but that's aesthetics that matter not to is functionality.

I just switched from sky to talktalk as I wanted to bring down cost not knowing talk talk is total rubbish and i'm on a one year contract already, my talk talk router trips on and off and the range on my sky router is weak as it doesn't reach my room upstairs i decided to use my sky router and this wire up to my room i was a bit skeptical after reading the reviews on this not being a cat5e e.t.c but i must confess this is one of my best buys on amazon it works perfectly and so fast i am so happy with this purchase i have never given a 5 star but i am going to on this one and very fast delivery oops thanks guys

Cheaply made. after only a few weeks use the cable outer white sleeve is already coming away from the connectors, exposing the wires which are not of standard colour. Had to use insulating tape to cover then up. Cant believe this product would pass any critical testing. Can feel the wires inside the sheath moving around. would not install this cable in any inaccessible or crucial situation. 1 star is probably excessive.

I had to buy these since my uni accommodation didn't have wi-fi. The grey plastic breaks / tears VERY easily around the two ends of the cable. I ended up using electrical tape to try and secure it better, but I still went through a number of these while at uni. The wires inside were fine, it was just the outer protection which was of poor quality. OK to use if you're going to plug it in and never move anything it's plugged into, not so good if you need to move them or your electrical equipment around as they'll get easily damaged.
