Zonder Nederlandse stekker en geen 2 meter

Gekocht als kerstcadeau voor mijn zoon, maar 1 grote deceptie. Het begon met het feit dat hier geen Nederlandse stekker bij zit. Dit betekent dat je een verloopstekker nodig hebt. Vervolgens blijkt de ledstrip geen 2 meter te zijn, maar iets van 1,40m. Wat een oplichterij. Pas op, niet kopen!

Vielleicht ist es dem einen oder anderen schon aufgefallen. Die "Brains" von Philips haben ohne Ankündigung die Verbindungsstücke geändert, sodass leider die Extensions mit 1m NICHT mehr an die Light Strips 2m passen bzw. natürlich nur noch, wenn die gleiche Modellreihe gekauft wird., Folge: über 200 Euro Verlust im Heimkino durch so einen Blödsinn. Mir fällt dazu nur so eine Rezension ein, obwohl sie nicht primär etwas mit der Leistung/Funktionsweise der Strips zu tun hat. Das ist Kundenverärgerung hoch drei, sorry Philips, setzen Sechs.

Achtung: Wer die Lightstrips auf Maß verlegen möchte so wie ich, dann Finger weg.
Diese lassen sich nämlich nur alle 33 cm kürzen.
Wer also ein ganz bestimmtes Maß benötigt sollte wissen das dies nicht funktioniert.

Used Philips hue light strips v4 for up and down lighting in our new kitchen. Very happy with shining up on top of the wall units. The under counter lights give plenty of light to work that we don't ever use the big light. The plinth lights are great too. I have the under cabinet light strips and under plinth light strips in a defused holder.

I used 3 main units and extended them where required for each light area. The longest is 4m and we’ve had no problems.

We have them all wired to a wall switch and use it as a normal light. We don't really play about with the sterling’s or colours so but the app does work fine on the phone.

Sulla qualità del prodotto non si discute.
Ho già tante altre Philips Striplight Hue in casa e sono stupende.
Questa volta ho acquistato una confezione da 2m+1m e un’altra estensione da 1m.
Il problema è che l’estensione da 1m presenta un attacco diverso dal solito, con i PIN più stretti che non sono compatibili con le altre Striplight (vedi foto).
Capisco che Philips possa decidere di effettuare un upgrade dei suoi prodotti, ma credo che dovrebbe almeno specificare al cliente che la nuova striscia non è compatibile con i modelli precedenti, altrimenti si rischia di effettuare acquisti errati.
Effettuerò un reso, sperando di poter ricevere il modello precedente compatibile.

Painful installation and overpriced

The Philips Hue lightstrips are wonderful in terms of integration into a Hue setup, but the physical hardware suffers from seriously dumb design flaws. I'm glad that I experimented with a cheaper extension rather than the main strip first but these comments apply to both.

First of all, the pins on the v4 lightstrips are ridiculously small, and fragile. You can connect the extension directly to the end of another light strip, but the problem is that there is no locking mechanism, so as you're putting things into place or measuring it up, it has a tendency to pop apart. Result - bent pins. The pins are so thin that they will snap off from fatigue from even a small bend. Things seem to work better if you use the included flexible cable, but then you'll get a large gap in light output.

Second, the lightstrip is not waterproof, yet Philips/Signify decided to cover it in a silicone cover, which makes it impossible to manipulate it around corners. You simply cannot turn the strip around a 90 degree corner in any sensible way. It is literally impossible to do so in an aluminium channel because the Hue strips are wider than standard, and the only wide crown channels suitable for it do not have enough height to allow the strip to sit at an angle. Oh yeah, there's only one channel on the market which fits the Hue strips, on account of them being so bulky.

I tried the suggested option of folding twice to turn the corner, taking care to do it where there weren't any components. This seemed to work fine, up until the point I tried to fit it into the aluminium channel - again, simply doesn't fit - too tall. Unfolded it, thinking I'd cut out some of the silicone cover to make it smaller, but didn't even get that far because after unfolding, the soldered joint just before the cut marks has breaks in it.

The full lightstrips come with a joining section in the box, but that only allows you to connect two cut ends together. And the joining section is so bulky that it no longer fits inside aluminium channels, so that's useless too. Because it only connects cut ends together, you can't even bypass a broken section if it's at the start of end of a run, because you don't have the necessary male/female connector included.

Think you can avoid those issues by not using an aluminium channel and diffuser? Fine, but the LEDs are so widely spaced that you end up a very patchy colour. Even under a cabinet with a matt coloured floor, the individual LED locations were clearly visible.

The light output suffers from the usual Hue PWM flicker at certain brightness levels. It's not up to the level of a cheap laptop screen, but it's noticeable on shiny surfaces if you look around the room (e.g. a knife edge). For the price of the Hue lights, I would expect no PWM flicker at all. TP-Link manage it for half the price, so why not Philips/Signify? (this is something I can see on literally every Hue bulb)

In short, the whole lightstrip system is a flawed product, which needed to have more thoughtinto how people would install it in a neat manner. The colours are nice and vibrant, and the association with the Hue hub went as flawless as usual. I'd happily pay for a Hue controller which works with standard RGBW strips.

Having tried a Govee Lightstrip which failed after less than a month... I thought I'd give the Philips Hue Lightstrip equivalent a go, being fairly heavily invested in Philips Hue Lightbulbs already. More reliable and better build quality I assumed.

The reality is these are terrible. The adhesive isn't very sticky. I installed these under kitchen units (floor level) and every few hours they would droop in different areas. I wasn't able to bend to a right angle for my cupboards and so I ended up having to do a twist to make them fit, which just looked shabby.

Also didn't like the fact these are sold in 2m kit and then additional 1m extensions. Apart from the off-putting premium pricing they just don't hold very well together and I'd imagine prone to damage with the prong and socket design. Would prefer a single, complete 5m option.

All in all, these don't deserve their premium price. I actually preferred the Govee option if the quality had been there. Much more durable in terms of application and great value for money, even if slightly let down by the app and if being harsh, the colour quality isn't quite as sharp as Hues.
