I discovered my first ever OtterBox case almost 10 years ago when I accidently bought one for my old Blackberry. I immediately fell in love with the case (it was the Commuter series) as it looked incredible and was made of the most premium plastic I'd ever felt on a case. Back then, this was a big deal as I was relatively poor with little money and my most prized possession, and only possession of any real value was my Blackberry. Since that day, the only case I've ever used is OtterBox on any phone or tablet that I've owned.

I don't know what it is but lately, and over the past 2 years or so, every single OtterBox case I've purchased has been garbage. Whether iPhone, Samsung etc. - the quality has been very poor and the feel of the cases isn't the same anymore.

I recently bought a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and immediately went to buy this case, but also the Commuter Series and the Symmetry Series. This was due to my past bad experiences with OtterBox and the fact that I had hope that either one of them would be great and I could return the other two, or even keep them handy.

But all 3 cases were garbage. The Defender case is loose on the phone. It clicks every time I move the phone and I don't know whether it would scratch my phone over time, or even fall out. Plus the clips were really, really loose on the front cover.

So I tried the Commuter Series and because of the size of my phone, and the fact that the top is only covered by a small piece of plastic (the rest is rubber), every time I put my phone in my jeans pocket, when I pulled it out, the case would come off the phone and my phone fell on the floor once - luckily on carpet and a very small distance. There is a serious design flaw here.

Finally tried the Symmetry Series and the camera is higher than the case, so if I put the phone on the table the camera glass would touch the surface! But this was only in one corner, it's as if the case was slanted somehow inside.

On top of that, the quality of the plastic is now very bad in the Defender and also the Commuter. Only the Symmetry is good quality plastic but the case was flawed!

Given that this is not a random event, due to the number of cases I've tried, I can only assume that something is wrong at the factory. Either the business has grown so quickly that quality control is no longer a priority, or there have been some forms of cost reductions in the manufacturing process.

I'm really disappointed because OtterBox was always my "go to" but now it has to be the new brand - Mous. Check out their cases, they are incredible.

Although, sadly, and for some weird reason, I'll always yearn for an OtterBox - perhaps nostalgia or perhaps because I had such a reliable experience with the brand once upon a time.

I hope that they fix the quality control issues.

Getting a consistent fan that's quiet at all rpms, without ticking or other noises is very difficult. The Silent Wings 3 is one of those great fans. I've got a few and they're all very good with no annoying ticking or buzzing. At extremely low rpms they can grind/tick, but that's almost right at stall speed. For this reason you're best using proper fan control, rather than let software auto-control where the software can sometimes hang around that stall speed. The reason for this is these fans run at a lower rpm so in 'quiet' mode the power from the auto-control can be a little too low.

Bundled with the fan are two sets of rubber insulators. One for screws, and one for completely isolating the fan with rubber. You'll be familiar with this if you've used Noctua fans. However, unlike Noctua where the rubber 'pin' is super annoying to use - it's super easy with the Silent Wings fans.

If you want the best performance in regards to cooling along with the minimal amount of noise, you shouldn’t be looking anywhere else, as these fans are the perfect package.

I recently replaced my PC case as I was fed up of my room feeling like the inside of a furnace due to poor airflow, meaning the heat would just build up inside the case and would take forever to disperse. Rather than sticking with the 3 front stock fans, I decided to swap them all out for these PWM versions, so that I can have the fans speed up or slow down depending on what temperature my GPU hits. I’m happy to say that not only does my graphics card run usually around 6°c cooler while playing games, but it’s also thanks to 4 of these fans (3x front and 1x back) - that my PC runs so much quieter and cooler overall.

If you have 4 spaces for 140mm fans in your case and think that £80 for some fans sounds ridiculous, then you really need to try even just one to see how well they perform. You won’t regret it!

This is my third otterbox case for this phone, they live a hard life with me unfortunately.
Trust me when I say, my phone almost has a daily tumble to the floor due to clumsiness and yet it doesn't have a scratch on it. This is 100% due to the otterbox working over time to save my phone.
I am one of those people that buys a phone cash when I need a new one, and the otterbox simply means that my phones last longer and I am out less money for new phones. Its 2021 and I am still using the Samsung Galaxy S8 (bought shortly after release) and I look forward to using this phone for many more years thanks to this new case.
