Poor quality of silicone. After 2 months of using Otterbox case, very disappointed. Case is dark yellow now. I would not recommend.

I discovered my first ever OtterBox case almost 10 years ago when I accidently bought one for my old Blackberry. I immediately fell in love with the case (it was the Commuter series) as it looked incredible and was made of the most premium plastic I'd ever felt on a case. Back then, this was a big deal as I was relatively poor with little money and my most prized possession, and only possession of any real value was my Blackberry. Since that day, the only case I've ever used is OtterBox on any phone or tablet that I've owned.

I don't know what it is but lately, and over the past 2 years or so, every single OtterBox case I've purchased has been garbage. Whether iPhone, Samsung etc. - the quality has been very poor and the feel of the cases isn't the same anymore.

I recently bought a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and immediately went to buy this case, but also the Commuter Series and the Symmetry Series. This was due to my past bad experiences with OtterBox and the fact that I had hope that either one of them would be great and I could return the other two, or even keep them handy.

But all 3 cases were garbage. The Defender case is loose on the phone. It clicks every time I move the phone and I don't know whether it would scratch my phone over time, or even fall out. Plus the clips were really, really loose on the front cover.

So I tried the Commuter Series and because of the size of my phone, and the fact that the top is only covered by a small piece of plastic (the rest is rubber), every time I put my phone in my jeans pocket, when I pulled it out, the case would come off the phone and my phone fell on the floor once - luckily on carpet and a very small distance. There is a serious design flaw here.

Finally tried the Symmetry Series and the camera is higher than the case, so if I put the phone on the table the camera glass would touch the surface! But this was only in one corner, it's as if the case was slanted somehow inside.

On top of that, the quality of the plastic is now very bad in the Defender and also the Commuter. Only the Symmetry is good quality plastic but the case was flawed!

Given that this is not a random event, due to the number of cases I've tried, I can only assume that something is wrong at the factory. Either the business has grown so quickly that quality control is no longer a priority, or there have been some forms of cost reductions in the manufacturing process.

I'm really disappointed because OtterBox was always my "go to" but now it has to be the new brand - Mous. Check out their cases, they are incredible.

Although, sadly, and for some weird reason, I'll always yearn for an OtterBox - perhaps nostalgia or perhaps because I had such a reliable experience with the brand once upon a time.

I hope that they fix the quality control issues.

Consistent and quiet

Getting a consistent fan that's quiet at all rpms, without ticking or other noises is very difficult. The Silent Wings 3 is one of those great fans. I've got a few and they're all very good with no annoying ticking or buzzing. At extremely low rpms they can grind/tick, but that's almost right at stall speed. For this reason you're best using proper fan control, rather than let software auto-control where the software can sometimes hang around that stall speed. The reason for this is these fans run at a lower rpm so in 'quiet' mode the power from the auto-control can be a little too low.

Bundled with the fan are two sets of rubber insulators. One for screws, and one for completely isolating the fan with rubber. You'll be familiar with this if you've used Noctua fans. However, unlike Noctua where the rubber 'pin' is super annoying to use - it's super easy with the Silent Wings fans.

If you want the best performance in regards to cooling along with the minimal amount of noise, you shouldn’t be looking anywhere else, as these fans are the perfect package.

I recently replaced my PC case as I was fed up of my room feeling like the inside of a furnace due to poor airflow, meaning the heat would just build up inside the case and would take forever to disperse. Rather than sticking with the 3 front stock fans, I decided to swap them all out for these PWM versions, so that I can have the fans speed up or slow down depending on what temperature my GPU hits. I’m happy to say that not only does my graphics card run usually around 6°c cooler while playing games, but it’s also thanks to 4 of these fans (3x front and 1x back) - that my PC runs so much quieter and cooler overall.

If you have 4 spaces for 140mm fans in your case and think that £80 for some fans sounds ridiculous, then you really need to try even just one to see how well they perform. You won’t regret it!

Otterbox is my ride or die phone case

This is my third otterbox case for this phone, they live a hard life with me unfortunately.
Trust me when I say, my phone almost has a daily tumble to the floor due to clumsiness and yet it doesn't have a scratch on it. This is 100% due to the otterbox working over time to save my phone.
I am one of those people that buys a phone cash when I need a new one, and the otterbox simply means that my phones last longer and I am out less money for new phones. Its 2021 and I am still using the Samsung Galaxy S8 (bought shortly after release) and I look forward to using this phone for many more years thanks to this new case.

PERFECT IN ALL ASPECTS !

i swear by the "otterbox" brand , its absolutely amazing !! firstly, i drop everything, i only have to look at an item and it will fall off the table !! if u want the glass broken to find the treasure, im the person you hand the glass to !!
So due to this i needed a robust case !! this case is both rubber and hard plastic, and yes, ive dropped it on the hard floor !! its extremely tight fitting, yet a perfect fit for clumsy fingers to manage to put on, and all the holes for the buttons are in the right places and everything works as it should do. The rubber is around the screen and has a slight ridge, and the plastic is at the back. The idea is that if you drop it face down the rubber will hit the floor, not the screen. Be aware that this case DOESNT have screen protection, and this is the reason why.
so far so good, the case has worked well and saved the phone.... if it breaks, i shall update this review !!

but for now, im very happy, and would buy another !!

Also note, this case ISNT bulky like some of the mean machines you can purchase that will make your phone look like a toy !!

Comfortable to hold and sturdy

Before buying this case, I had tried rubber cases; plastic cases and most recently used the Apple leather iPhone case, which had good grip and was thin. However, several drops (and screen replacements) later and I figured that the Apple case simply stopped the phone from getting scratched and did little to prevent drop-related damage. That prompted me to get this Otterbox case.

It's a simple idea, that works well. The main case is tough polycarbonate, and the outer edges are soft rubber, so it combines strength with a good grip. I've dropped my phone once from a desk onto a tiled floor since getting it, and there was absolutely no damage to my phone or screen.

Some reviewers have commented that the rubber and polycarbonate have come apart. I've had this case for around 2 months, and it's showing no signs of splitting so far.

I've got an iPhone 6, so I still use wired headphones; the right angle headphone connector fits with no problem. I've also traveled recently and had to switch the SIM card out a couple of times; the case pops off easily, yet feels like a snug fit the rest of the time.

The case does make the phone a little bulkier, but not to a point where it's a problem.

I would definitely buy again.

Excellent protection

Twice, by using Google Pixel cases, my 4 and 5 have suffered damage as the bottom part of the case is open. This Otter box is a completely different kettle of fish - complete protection and stylish to boot. Warning - the controls (on/off and volume) require gorilla fingers. Had to scrap it - I couldn't select the camera with the two quick clicks of the one/off button. I use that a lot so for me it's no good. But it's still great protection.

Another few dB's knocked off my computer's noise!

Product has mounting for both 'hard' and 'non-vibrating' options which are relatively easy to add to the fan.

Mounting with the 'soft/non-vibrating option was a bit tedious as they are not screws and so you need to 'find' the hole on the mounts which when doing from the back of the case (Tower 900) is a little tricky - probably added about 10 minutes to what would otherwise have been a 2 minute job.

I did a before and after and the case was at about 33 dB before replacing this particular case fan, and now reads 25dB - it may not seem like a lot but it has most definitely made a difference.

As a result have ordered 2 more of these fans for the top and side of the case to replace ones I'd purchased during the build process.

Other than the fiddly mounts, I'm a fan!

Addendum: 2 more fans arrives which replaced the other 2 case fans, and honestly, unless I was looking at my computer I wouldn't know it was switched on. dB reading now at <21dB - awesome fans.

Otterbox Symmetry - Great cover, excellent protection

This is my second Otterbox Symmetry cover, to replace the first one after more than five years of intense use. This cover is perfect as it is sturdy and really protects the phone body from impacts, wrapping it firmly. Whilst Otterbox Defender can be used on its own, Otterbox Symmetry would be better utilised with a screen cover, for a full protection (I purchased Liquipel screen protector when I bought my first Otterbox and it is still at its place!). Although alternative covers from other providers might be lighter, I prefer this one as it guarantees top safety for the device, without being too heavy nor bulky. Generally speaking, Otterbox covers are not the cheapest on the market. Nevertheless, on this occasion I have purchased this one with a big discount - therefore it was really a great bargain. Five stars to Amazon as well, for the excellent service!
