So coming across this little gem has solved a lot of issues and managed to LAN most devices such as my PS4, TV, Sky Q, Hive Hub, Android box etc - this guarantees a stable connection for the "more demanding" data hungry devices.

Since getting a V6 box the wi-fi signal was reading "marginal 45%" which caused buffering issues on Prime TV and On Demand content through the V6 box. Prime did run nicely on wi-fi as an app on my Sony TV but this service is being withdrawn.
Not wanting to take carpet up and drill holes or move the router because it is in a central position, I looked at a switch box connecting to the lounge RJ45 cable, having discounted splitters and hubs.
I have a 500 mbps internet connection and get those speeds or very close all the time and I wanted to ensure that speed was not compromised.
Hence the order of this Netgear GS305 5 port switch. I have connected the computer, V6 box and TV by rj45 cable. Extensive checks on a speed checker has confirmed that there isnt any difference in up or download speed.
I am extremely pleased with this item, easy to setup, well there is no set up, just plug the feed RJ45 into any port then plug the other items into the other ports.
No RJ45 cables are supplied and it does require a mains socket. I have other Netgear devices because I have found them so reliable and this item is no different.

If they work out of the box, then you're probably onto a winner. A lot of reviews have reemed Netgear for out of box failures, only had 1 myself, and it was a faulty power supply rather than the switch (12V/2A), so was able to replace easily.
The main thing to remember is that these don't make your home internet run any faster, in most of the world you'll be lucky to get over 100Mbps at home, so having a gbps switch wont change that.
I'm a bit old fashioned in the way that I like a physical cable, nowadays, everything is wireless, from TVs to Echos. And that does take it's toll on your wireless bandwidth. Most ISP routers will be lucky if they're able to support over 30-40 wireless devices, and any heavy data rate can really bottom that out. So if you're trying to stream 4K UHD HRD netflix at 20ish Mbps, you want to be wired in.
There are few shortcomings on this switch, it has far surpassed the MTBF of the PCBs, and is able to cope with almost Gbps data transfer across it from multiple source-end points.
The main thing that gets me is how quickly the cache fills up, i seem to have to hard reset them almost yearly.
If you're planning on using this for business and you are sporting 1-2 Gbps internet speeds, and have a high intensive internal data stream (video editing/server mashing/etc.), i'd be looking more towards the managed switches so you can set up VLANs/MPLS if you need to, but you will then also be able to look at 10/100Gbps SFPs.
It's worth remembering that most off the shop bought products only have 1Gbps ports, so this is a cureall!
PS. Also remeber, MBps is different to Mbps. the amount of people that forget the capitalisation of the 'b' is staggering

The app says the device isn't supported.
Good size for a drinks coaster though. It has good grippy feet too, and it feels well built.
Really rubbish at being a network switch though.
Edit: I was able to add it to the app with another method eventually, however the switch doesn't seem to be passing any data through. Still a rubbish switch.

Overall, if you require a quality unmanaged network switch to expand the number of ethernet ports available, this fits the bill perfectly. Thank you for reading my review, if you found it helpful feel free to let me know below.
