But why charge so much for bin liners, I feel like i'm being ripped off! £7 seriously..
So, I bought a pack and they do the job as expected, fit is good and they look tidy.
Decided there must be cheaper alternatives and after some google searching the measurements found these..
Brabantia Bin Liners, 15-20 L - Size D, 20 Bags
Exactly the same dimensions but a different colour and quarter of the price.
Keep the JJ ones for best, when I have visitors and want to live the millionaire lifestyle...
We got a couple of free bags with it and thought they were pretty decent quality to be honest.
When we saw the price of the packs of bags it was a bit of an eye opener but having had another brand before with questionable quality bin bags we thought it was probably worth the extra expense to get something that didn't split and spill all of its contents.
These fit perfectly, they have tie strings on them and feel twice as thick as standard bags. We're half way through a pack now and we've not had a single one of them split or leak so will definitely be buying more in future.
Yes you can buy cheaper, yes it's just rubbish and it's just going in the bin but do you really want to risk getting last nights leftovers spilling over your clean kitchen floor?

Let's put it straight: these food waste bags are slightly more expensive (but not so dramatically bad) than more ordinary food waste caddy bin liners such as these ones The Caddy Company 5 Litre (5L) Compostable Caddy Bin Liners, 150 Bags , but I find the quality is much better than the ones you can find at the supermarket.
Currently, Amazon is charging £9.00 for 50 bags, so it's 18 pence per bag in order to dispose of the food waste ecologically. The idea is that we're like 'donating' almost 20p each time you use a bag, which sounds a lot to me, but if you have a compost converter bin in your garden you can save that too (although I wouldn't put any meat remains or bones in it, but you can do it if you're putting it out in the food waste bin). If the government or the local council wants us to dispose of the food waste separately from general refuse, then maybe they could provide the compostable bags for free, but alas they wouldn't do it.
These bags are very good and much stronger than those cheaper ones from the supermarket, so even though this means I have to pay 18p per bag instead of 9p, I'll still go for the Joseph Joseph ones. I also noticed that leakage is much less than the cheaper ones. Also the size matters, as my caddy bin requires a 4L bag, which fits perfectly, the ones in the supermarket are 5L, 10L and even bigger, so even if you don't use the Joseph Joseph Intelligent Totem Bin, I can still recommend these bags to anybody as long as your caddy bin isn't very big.
