Wonderful engineering

These really are as clever and well built as all the reviews you'll find suggest.

I've had a Shubb for almost 30 years and it is great and still works well. However, you have to tighten it to suit the neck pretty much every time and then re-tune. By contrast, the G7th is super quick and has little or no impact on tuning. You quickly learn how to squeeze it when you put it on so that it holds the strings enough to stop any buzz but not enough to pull them out tune.

I also like how you can quickly store the G7th on the headstock when its not needed. Some people have commented on the release mechanism being non-intuitive. I don't get that. I use it from under the neck and the release works well. It's easy to put it on and take off with just one hand.

All in all, an elegant, simple, practical and beautiful device (and designed in the UK).

Probably my fault for having unrealistic expectations, but this capo did not quite do it for me. I found that it worked really well on my electric guitars.... ( mainly Fenders, plus Gibson, Eastman. Guild etc )… but did not do so well on my acoustics... some with wider , thicker necks.
On my Martin D18, Taylor 7 series and my Takemine, I found this to be quite prone to a few dead notes here and there up and down the neck ( especially on the G string)....... where the note would not ring clearly.... like a dull, damping effect.
With a bit of faffing about and applying as much pressure as I could, the situation improved somewhat, but I bought this thinking that it would be a universal answer to all my capo use. Its not quite that.
I would have to highly commend the company though, as I left a brief comment on a FB page, and they answered it straight away with an offer of help if I got in touch. That is excellent on their part.
I will stick with it for the time being, but this product will not make me change over from my "go to" capo which is the old standard Shubb model.
I think its a decent product.... perhaps just not for me.

Broken in less than two months, but lifetime warranty is a big plus

I was so looking forward to using this capo. It was the most I'd ever spent on one but I do a lot of gigging so I wanted one that was sturdy and reliable. I had barely begun using my Performance 3 when suddenly the release mechanism stopped working and seemed to have broken away from the rest of the body. I've tried pushing it back into place but had no luck. I've messaged G7TH for a replacement so fingers crossed this is a one-off.

***UPDATE***

After registering my product on the official website, I was contacted in no time by a friendly customer service rep who sincerely apologised for the issue and sent out a replacement on the same day.

Heavy, length not enough for wide fretboards. clamp only suitable for thin necks

In fairness, it's a good product. It just doesn't work for classical or light wood guitars.

Pros: strudy, metallic, won't break if you step on it or drop it. Easy to move and operate. Will hold in place with pressure. The contouring pad will work (from the looks of it) as intended for curved fretboards.

Cons: It's heavy - affects the balance of the guitar (at lest classical guitars which are light; could be different on more heavier built ones from mahogny etc.). It's very small and suitable only for very thin necks and quite narrow fretboards. E.g. the fret rubber pad's length was too short for my classical guitar (my 1st fret is 52 mm wide).

I tried it on ukulele... nope. By weight of it, the whole Ukule tips over with this on. Sadly I had no instrument to make use of it.

Not as good as the original

I own all 3 models of this capo, and I find the chunky original is still the easiest to fit and the most reliable. For me, this lightweight v3 model seems to need more pressure to get a buzz-free fit on my Martin D-28 - something that's harder for me to do these days with my ageing hands. Not sure that the ‘adaptive fit’ is that brilliant. I'm probably going to have to revert to my trusty old Shubb, which requires little force to fit. The idea of the G7th is great, and it's beautifully engineered, but I think it's destined for younger, stronger hands :-)

Actually slightly narked off with this to be honest, and I really wish I'd read all the reviews rather than believing the hype. The blurb which intimates this is "Perfect for all guitars" is not true. This Capo does NOT work on nylon strung/classical neck guitar, It is neither long enough or wide enough to accommodate the neck profile and there is no means of adjustment for that. You can sort of get it to fit, but even if you manage this feat, your top E string will pop out after any sort of use. That said, for steel strings guitars, and electrics it is a good piece of kit, and doesn't pull notes sharp or leave buzzing strings, or both in the way that others have done. You can tailor it nicely to the required pressure very easily.

U ordered the Performance 3 ART steel string version.
Very easy to use, just clips on and off with hand pressure, and seems to work perfectly in terms of holding the string tension/no buzzing. I honestly can't say how easy, no fuss this is to fit. It just works without adjustment or fiddling.
I've used it on my '94 Gibson Les Paul Studio, my Strat copy, and my kids 3/4 size nylon strung Stagg acoustic (I didn't expect it work on the acoustic - but it did).

So far very very happy, and worth the money.

Didn’t function as a capo

Did not function as a capo. I’ve had many over my 40yrs playing and wanted to treat myself after new Taylor purchase. D&G string buzz or muffled no matter where it was placed. Return to Amazon as didn’t want to risk further disappointment and returned to trusty if knackered and worn Jim Dunlop. Never let me down. Possibly just very poor quality control but who knows.

The g7th performance 3 is an excellent bit of kit.

Straight out of the box it's very easy to get to grips with. The mechanism is very intuitive and easy to use. The adaptive radius technology seems to work perfectly, no string buzz at all.

Most importantly I would like to highlight how good this capo is at keeping the guitar in tune. Never have I had a capo that has managed to capo up to the 9th fret and the guitar still be in tune. It truly is a masterful piece of engineering.

OK now the (supposed) downside. It is on the expensive side in the capo market. But in everything you get what you pay for. If you have multiple guitars it will work on all of them, at gigs less time is wasted having to retune every time you move the capo, the most innovative design for years, the list goes on for reasons why this isn't really that expensive.

Didn't work on baritone guitar

A bit disappointing given the cost. Works well on my narrow neck standard acoustic (Takamine EN20): its easy to put on and the guitar doesn't need much retuning. But on my Cort baritone guitar I cannot completely eliminate buzzing of the two middle strings in some tunings (eg AEAEAB). I don't know if this is down to the wider and slightly flatter neck, or the thicker bass strings of the baritone, but I had to go back to the trusty Shubb for this guitar.
