Productbeschrijving
Feature-length documentary chronicling the astounding success of the West Indies cricket team during the 1970s and '80s. The film documents the defiant rise to power of the team, which became an icon of West Indian independence and black consciousness as it embarked on its 15-year world domination of a sport traditionally associated with British colonialism and racial subjugation.

To all lovers of cricket, this is a must, with a killer soundtrack to boot. For those who don't know why cricket is such an addictive and thrilling, even terrifying sport, watch this and you'll see.

At the time I had no idea what they'd had to deal with as a nation, race and sporting team. This is a real education on how a small series of disparate nations came together to defeat ignorance, racism and stereotypes by learning from their defeats to become the very best at what they did.
Possible the greatest world sporting dynasty this planet will ever see.
This brought back great memories and is a really well put together piece of historical documentation.

The film mixes original footage with commentary from musicians, admirers and many of the players themselves, and music from many local bands and established singers. This is definitely one for a long summer evening in with friends and sets up a summer full of sport...and cricket. The blu-ray picture sparkles and is bright and the 5.1 soundtrack is suitably loud and energetic. This film has only just been released in the theatres over a fortnight ago and is, along with 'Senna' which is the other sports documentary of Summer 2011, one of the the highlights of the year. Don't miss out.

I have always loved watching the West Indies team play agressive cricket, their fast bowling and tremendous batting was awsome to watch. As a youth of 14 I tried to model my batting stance on Dennis Amiss who I had seen score 203 at the Oval in 1976 against the pace of Holding Roberts et al.
I went to the saturday of the Oval test with a friend in 1980 and felt intimidated by the dancing West Indian Fans telling me to burn my England Scarf - only to find out it was their humour and within minutes they were sharing their drink and food with us while we were waiting for tickets! I was almost pleased when the days play was called off before the start due to a thunderstorm as we were enjoying ourselves so much in their company!
The views of some of the players might not stand comfortable with viewers but it sure got them together as a team and they helped the game of cricket at the same time! I'm proud to be a cricket fan because of the mixture of cultures that watch cricket shows we have more in common than we have differences!Just watch the crowds at any game and you will see fans of both sides talking and laughing with each other! The lack of on or off field fighting or agression could teach football supporters a thing or two!
