From the creative talent behind the genre-defining Burnout series, Dangerous Driving puts aggression back into the racing genre, recapturing the spirit of the past and taking it to a new place.
Dangerous Driving is a game about real driving. The sort of driving you want to do when no one else is looking. The sort of driving you'd love to do if only everyone else would get OUT OF THE DAMN WAY!; This game gives you the chance to live out that fantasy. To floor it in everyday cars, at high speeds, weaving in and out of traffic and slamming the other cars right off the road.
This is a game built in the spirit of the classic arcade racing games of the 80's and 90's. It's about speed, driving skill and beautiful powerslides around epic corners. It's also about all out aggression, instant retaliation and sweet, sweet revenge.

Dangerous driving is currently a single player only racing game with future DLC planned to add multiplayer. This game is all about speed and crashing and therefore race types include standard races, road rage (where the object of the race is to take down opponents) and hot lap style time trial events. At time of writing there are several car classes and race types however this could be expanded in the future. Let's start with the good..
- brilliant sense of Speed.
- low price tag to accommodate the indie status
- very accessible
- pick up and play style of gameplay means that you can play for minutes or hours
- the graphics are often good although they have their moments where the budget shows
- big crashes in a game all about smashing your opponent off the road
- brilliant sound effects to add to the crunchy crashes and high speed boosting
Now the cons..
- the indie status of this game means that there is no licenced soundtrack so you have to provide Spotify yourself
- currently only six classes of car
- environments are all rural in style
- graphics to have their moments of pop in and slowdown
As a fan of the old Burnout games and as someone who owned all of them, yes including the PSP titles, I can say this is definitely a game I recommend. With a price tag of £25 this reflects the fact that this game is not a triple A game but it's definitely one you should give a chance as it's a fun, fast paced and exciting game. With the support of the public it could lead to further great titles that rival the old Burnout games, a bigger team and a bigger budget. It isn't perfect and there are some bugs which apparently are being patched hence it not getting 5 stars but it's definitely worth 4 and with future DLC could even raise the bar to a 5 star rating.
For a further side note this game uses sound effects, race types and menu styles from Burnout 2 and 3.. pretty neat.
Even if you don't run into any traffic, you'll still be overtaken, because the rubber-banding is so severe that AI will overtake you at twice your speed while you're in first place and boosting. They'll even take lines at speeds that aren't possible for such lines or even just generally possible. I've crashed just after tight turns and seen AI come around the corner in lines specifically to avoid me, reacting with inhuman speed, even before they were able to see me.
I shouldn't want to avoid taking other cars down (which happens so easily, sometimes, that I've gotten double takedowns from AI hitting me and bouncing into other AI cars), I shouldn't want to avoid first place, but the wrecks of other drivers can create excessively punishing obstacles in winding and/or narrow areas and the rubber banding means you'll need the right time to overtake from the third class of cars onward (there are 6 classes). The other cars also set off faster than you and boost earlier. You need to avoid playing the game the way you'd play a Burnout game - or any racing game in general, for that matter - in order to win.
The tracks are great most of the time, but it's hard to see that past randomly generated traffic spawning in just the right places to make winning impossible. Some turns just do not fit with the mechanics of the game at all, just death traps. You also can't move the camera, aside from switching to front bumper cam or looking back.
Here are things that would make things better: more traffic on straight sections, less traffic on turns, less lighting glare, improved contrast in traffic textures and lighting, tone the rubber-banding way down, and maybe fix the tight chicane in the tropical section that (if I remember correctly) leads into a tunnel and then out onto a suspended road.
I was really excited for this game and talked about it a lot, before it came out, because I loved the Burnout games so much that I was there at the end, when there weren't enough people for Cops and Robbers anymore. This game has everything I wanted and expected - what it does well, it does amazingly, but what's wrong takes too much enjoyment away from all of that. At the end of the third day of playing this, I just feel sad, I regret having been excited about it, because of its glaring flaws. I cannot recommend this game and it pains me to say that, because it could have been the best indie game I've ever played and it even has everything it needed for that. Buy it, if you want a punishing Burnout-esque (minus music) experience, but know what you're getting into.
Credit where credits due though as the developer does seem to be listening to feedback amd has a number of updates planned and detailed for the coming months. I will update my review if improvements come (assuming i dont sell, give away or bin the game first).
Before buying i would recommend having a look online for bugs and checking out the developers web page for info. This game has a lot of potential, but it needs a bit kore time and care before it brings this style of game back to life.
They have taken the minor crash carnage element from the game Paradise City, made it worse to look at and much worse to play...and that's it.
You drive a short section of road...then intentionally crash your poorly handling vehicle, assuming the AI traffic doesn't despawn.
If you can get it on offer for a couple of quid then maybe it will be worth the money for the hour of distraction, otherwise forget it.
