My home network just got complicated, lockdown, work from home, home-schooling. I've introduced a 3 node mesh network, have an existing DSL Model/Router, and a managed switch. The switch is where all the wiring is happening, essentially my home office is wired, the mesh network covers the kids and the rest of the house. I had a rag-tag bunch of Cat 5e and 'other' cables I've had for years, whilst re-cabling the home office, I thought it would be nice to get some new cables.
Whilst my 'backbone' switch is only 1Gbps, the price difference between Cat 5e and Cat 6 is negligible. Technically I could update the backbone to 10Gbps at a later date, so I'm future-proof. Most of my cable runs are 0.5m or 1m, with only 1 at 5m.
So why pick this particular brand cable? Honestly, the variety of colours! Each cable coming out of the switch is differently coloured, I'm not a fan of labelling, having them differing colours means I know what each cable is wherever it pops out.
The cables certainly function well at their current 1Gbps utlisation (as should be expected). The only other mention would be of the shroud over the locking clip, which I find being a 'strip' of insulation is far better than the ones that completely encase the locking clip, so you cannot see what's going on.
