Heb 'm gekocht als aanvulling op een Chromebook. De Power Pass-through is handig zodat je feitelijk de laptop nog steeds met maximaal vermogen kan opladen. Tijdens het laden wordt de hub nauwelijks warm, wat uitstekend is. De hub fungeert tevens als een externe opslag met een permanent 250GB micro-SD-kaartje. Werkt subliem. Perfect dingetje dus wat mij betreft, maar dat ben ik van Anker wel gewend.

This is an amazing hub!!

I have a MacBook Pro M1. This hub is amazing, very reliable. I rather have a USB hub with less inputs, but that is reliable, than having one that fails to work well. I prefer using this hub and then use my other USB-C port for ethernet and some extra USB-A's (just the Amazon Basics one does the job).

I actually tried first a docking station, but this hub + the Amazon Basics one in my other port seemed to be a better solution. I usually put my external camera on my Amazon Basics one, and put my audio interface in the Anker one. I use also an external screen, and this hub works perfectly for this. Hope this helps someone else that does a lot of audio/video stuff.

A hub that doesn't look and feel cheap

The first thing I noticed when I received it, was that the box had some weight. And after unpacking it, I saw that this hub was made of aluminium (I guess). It really feels it has some quality and that it keeps it place on the table even after plugging in some cables.

I am using it with an Apple Macbook Pro with USB-C connectors and it works without a problem. I have an external keyboard connected to the hub and the hub itself gets power from the Apple Macbook adapter.

To me it is the best hub I've had in a long time.

Second time not great

The first time I bought this product it arrived all great in a nice box. I works great so I decided to buy it a second tima as a gift. This time the hub arrived in an plastic bag. I have not opened it yet but all of the protective film that sould be on the hub has already been removed. This must be an used hub wich they just resell without the box for the exact same price and without letting me know that I am buying an used product. I would have liked to contact Anker before writing this but I could not find a way to contact them. I hope they see this review and are able to compensate for sending an used product. Otherwise I will return this one and order it again hoping I will recive an actual new product. I will update this review if they contact me.

I have yet to find a USB-C hub that fits my workflow and lifestyle better than the Anker PowerExpand Direct 7-in-2 USB-C Adapter. It's incredibly portable, has all the connections you need to plug in all sorts of devices and accessories, and it can support two displays (through HDMI and USB-C), making it paramount to get work done whether you're at your primary workstation or out of the office.

Ik zocht een goedkope degelijke hub voor mijn Ipad pro 12,9 2021 met de mogelijkheid om ook een display aan te sluiten. Toestel oogt mooi en degelijk. Ik kreeg het in het begin niet aan de praat omdat de usb C connector niet leek te passen, zat veel te losjes. Bleek mijn fout te zijn, misschien zat er een plastiekje in de weg of de beschermende hoes, na stevig doordrukken paste het perfect. Je kan het toestel zelf gebruiken zonder externe stroombron. Mocht je die toch gebruiken dan heb je wel een stevig model nodig om je Ipad tegelijk op te kunnen laden. Dat lukt niet met de Apple bijgeleverde lader. Eén minpuntje, verbindingskabeltje vind ik net iets te kort als je een Ipad stand gebruikt.
Support van Anker reageert binnen de dag, was misschien niet altijd even accuraat in de probleemoplossing maar stelden zelfs voor het toestel terug te betalen zonder dat ik het hoefde terug te sturen. Dat bleek dan toch niet nodig. Voor de overlast nog 8€ terug gekregen. Echt top.

At first it didn't do a thing, until I figured out there is a protection plastic on the usb-c cable that doesn't allow the plug to go all the way in the port of a computer.

Now it works like a charm and gives me the so much needed extra USB ports and SD-card slot. I work as a professional photographer and working with a SD-card via a slot shortens the time of extracting the pictures and movies drastically. Can't wait to test it some more and take full advantage of all its abilities.

My point of view on Amazon... this hub was delivered within less than a day through Amazon Prime. Couldn't be more happy with how this worked out!

Anker is well known for making good electronic accessories at competitive prices and in my eyes they've done it again. A year ago I both a laptop that only had two USB-C ports and nothing else. I quickly needed a dongle that could at least give me some extra USB-A ports and the ability to connect my laptop to a HDMI television. After half of week of sifting through reviews denouncing overpriced dongles that stopped working after a few weeks, I bit the bullet and both a dongle for 70 bucks that most people were positive about. This dongle costs half that and has the same great built quality and features as my other dongle. If Anker has this one the market last year it would have been a no brainer.

Do you want it to charge your laptop? Read this first!

I found that this hub was not powering my 2018 13inch MacBook Pro. I initially thought it was the hub but after speaking to Anker support it might be a combination of things.

If you want it to power your laptop you have to be aware of a few things - this is going to get complicated. You need to know:

- The wattage required by your laptop in my case 85w (THIS WILL NOT CHARGE THE 15Inch MACBOOK - that’s 87w higher than this can deliver).

- The power requirement of the charger. If you buy a 60w charger the power delivery may not be 60w. In my case my Anker charger was only a 30w charger - an additional 30w was used to power the charger

- the power requirement of the hub. That’s 15w

So if you use the 100w charger that came with the Mac minus the 15w power consumption of the hub and you have 85w - just enough to power the MacBook.

I’m only giving 3 stars because they really don’t make this clear. Anker sell a lot of different power supplies and adapters and it would be great to see a table of the power supplies and this hub comparing what power output you will get.

Fried all my MacBook 16’s ports

Beware! Hooked it up (charger to PD port, hdmi, usb a) to my MacBook 16” and it worked fine for the first couple of hours. I started smelling smoke and my MacBook restarted. Upon powering it back on, none of the ports are working anymore.

Die Beschreibung und die Artikel-Fotos suggerieren, dass der Hub ein angeschlossenes Notebook über den Power Delivery Anschluss mit genügend Strom versorgen kann.
Leider ist dem nicht so. Ein angeschlossenes Thinpad T480 meldet, dass es nicht geladen werden kann. Und das it verbundenem Originalnetzteil. Der Hub selbst macht einen soliden Eindruck. Mechanisch Top verarbeitet...
Deshalb muss ich den Hub leider schweren Herzens wieder zurückgeben. Schade. Trotzdem toll von Amazon, dass er so schnell (das in der heutigen Zeit) geliefert wurde.
Vielleicht hat ja der Hersteller ANKER einen Tipp für mich. Denn ansonsten bin ich mit deren Produkten immer sehr zufrieden.

Good, but seemingly no charging on iPad Pro 11

The build quality of this is overall very good although the PD connector is ever so slightly misaligned so that inserting a cable is sometimes tricky and requires holding at a slight angle. Otherwise build quality seems excellent.

*[EDIT] I’ve now tried this with a 30w/18w USB-C Anker 12v car charger and it passes charge power through to the iPad as expected. The previous charger I tried was an Anker 18w USB-C 12v car charger but for whatever reason it didn’t pass power through.

I’ve tested the SD card reader, the micro SD card reader, the USB A/3 ports (with an external USB-3 spinning hard drive) and the USB-C data ports, all work just fine now. I can get iPad audio out through the USB-C port whilst simultaneously charging the iPad through the PD port. Big thumbs up!!!

I’d say the only drawback is the cable is quite short and not swappable.

*[previous review] The reason for 4 stars*[now 5 stars!] is that this does not pass power through to my iPad Pro 11” as I’d hoped, so you can’t use the hub and charge the iPad at the same time. On first connecting the charging spund emits abs the battery icon goes green but then a second layer it goes off. I tried with two different power sources (one standard 2.4a USB-A car charger, and one anker PD car charger delivering up to 9v/2a) to rule that out but no luck. It’s possible it will work on a mains charger but I haven’t tried that yet.

Great space saving dock

My main objective when I purchased this USB hub was to replace a laptop docking station.
I bought Anker because I have used the brand before and the devices are always of a good quality.

Pros:
- much smaller footprint
- fully functional
- good value for money

Cons:
- The Hub failed within weeks of arriving, but it was replaced without any fuss and replacement unit is working perfectly. One of the reasons to buy good brands.

Bear in mind:
- As the Hub takes 20W of power, the power supply that works on your laptop, may not work if plugged through the hub. The 65W original lenovo power brick is enough to power a thinkpad laptop through the hub. However, the PowerAtom III only delivers 45W on PD, so you cannot use the hub to charge.

What would I improve:
- The USB-C cable coming out is a bit short for my taste. I'd prefer if the hub came with a PD-out port on the hub and a lead you could plug in. This would allow you to replace it with a different length if preferred.
- Who needs the card readers? All USB hubs in the market have card readers but very few people need them. It would make more sense to have an additional USB port instead.
- I seem to struggle to find a power supply, 100W, with USB-C output that is reasonably compact and priced. I'd love to see something like the PowerAtom III on a 100W version.

Conclusion:
I can now have all the cables nicely tucked away with a single lead out of the dock into the USB-C port in the laptop and I am very happy
